Textile Artist & Teacher, Loretta Sloan has been a creative soul from an early age. I had the privilege of working at Ashford Handicrafts in my earlier years until my mid-twenties. This embedded my love for wool, allowing me to learn the skills in felting, weaving, spinning & more.
2010 I first entered WOW 2010, & are proud to be an 8-time finalist in the World of Wearable Art. Awarded highly commended 2011. I have gathered just over 30 years of experience, working with NZ Wool in various mediums, creating beautiful, unique forms of art. Start of 2022 prompted my vocation to become a full-time maker and artist. To be able to fulfil and walk this path, offering you the methods and techniques that have shaped me as a textile artist is an absolute dream. I believe anyone who wants to be an artist can be an artist. I can give you all the basic tools to show, and inspire you the potential that wool can offer in the artistic world we all live in. Wool is the most forgiving medium of art you will encounter. My favorite quality about wool is there is no wastage. Felting offers a never-ending stream of limitless possibilities, from traditional methods to contemporary designs. Itβs a pure gift that I can share my passion and love for wool.
