Lighting is all about atmosphere, sure you need functionality but it’s also important to have a combo of light sources in a space. For instance, a sculptural pendant mixed with table lamps and a floor lamp next to an armchair will create a beautiful cosy lounge mood. A pendant doesn’t need to be over-sized as long as it’s central to the space and in balance. And if you go for a showstopper, make sure you keep the other pieces in the room more subdued.

Keep it simple, don’t over light! And be creative.

It can be tricky to figure out the right lighting mix so if you need a bit of guidance, give Inside Guides a call.

If you’re planning a space refresh, you might be doing a deep dive into the next interior trends. It seems multi-purpose ‘open’ spaces, minimalism and neutrals are all here to stay. But as we are all becoming increasingly aware of the environmental impacts of our purchases, sustainability is huge. With this in mind, I wanted to share with you a couple of our recent upcycled projects, an op-shop artwork reframed which is now a key piece in our home plus an original mid-century Don chair, reupholstered in a modernist fabric - fantastic style and super comfy. And a cute den jam-packed with upcycled gems.
Give Inside Guides a call and we’ll help you with your space refresh.

Colour Lover
One of the most exciting and mysterious interior design elements is colour. Bringing deep delicious tones into your space can be super satisfying, a real lift to the senses!

So, if you’re a lover of colour, you’ll be excited about the forecast for 2024. This coming year we’ll see a strong palette with underlying warm tones – terracotta, rich ochre and purply-red mix with pinky clay neutrals and clever touches of vivid yellow and blue.

A clever mix of new accent colours – cushions, throws or even a table lamp – can refresh how a space looks and feels. And don’t underestimate the power of paint, it can be transformative!

We have years of experience in creating beautiful colour palettes so give Insides Guides a call. We’ll help you create the perfect colour story for your home.

TEXTURE
Texture is key to creating depth and interest in a room. It is the art of creating visual and tactile beauty, of blending the rough with the smooth - like a plush rug on a stone floor or beautiful cotton bedlinen on a rustic timber headboard. While it sounds easy, the art of layering should be well thought through. One key principle is to have a consistent theme and repetition across the space.
We have years of experience, so if you need a bit of expert interior design advice to create visual texture in your home, give us a call.
