Over the last two days we've replaced two flue systems on insert fireplaces, and what we've found has been pretty concerning.
In both cases, the stainless steel flues had deteriorated to the point where the metal had become extremely brittle, with large holes burnt right through them.
This is a serious safety concern, as holes in the flue can allow smoke and harmful gases, including carbon monoxide, to escape into areas they shouldn't, potentially putting you and your family at risk.
What's concerning is that damage like this can go completely unnoticed by the homeowner, as most of the flue system is hidden away and out of sight.
It's a good reminder of why it's important to have your fireplace and flue system regularly checked over, not just cleaned.
If you haven't had your fireplace inspected in a while, feel free to give our team a call and we can get you booked in for a chimney clean and inspection.
