With 2022 coming to an end, I wanted to take the time to appreciate how generous the universe has been to me this year.

I moved to a new house in January and took over the garage, turning it into a pottery studio. Here I was able to finally get my kiln installed, which I’ve had for over a year and a half but wasn’t able to plug it in.

I made a lot of pots this year, which has helped me find an aesthetic that I like, giving Kenobi Ceramics a recognisable look and feel. It definitely will keep evolving and changing with time, but it is a beautiful feeling to make things that I can identify with, expressing my voice, showing my character.

I also started going to artisan markets and interacting with people. Seeing a live audience hold my pieces and examine them has been quite the revealing experience.

Finally, I met many wonderful humans both online and in person who have shared in some way or another my passion for pottery and functional ceramics.

Thanks for sharing with me another wonderful year of making. Let’s see what 2023 brings, I certainly have many many many plans and ideas.

I love this tumbler! 💙🤍

I recently fired a batch of blue pieces, this being one of them. Probably THE one. My favourite of the lot.

Lots of hours and materials spent finding a shade of blue that I liked. That would fit with my existing colour palette. Every time I look at this pot, I am happy I didn’t just choose the first blue I made. It was worth the testing 🥰.

This little bottles are special…

I am getting married on January 2023! These bottles will act as bud vases to hold bouquets of dry flowers, and decorate the tables where our guests will be eating and chatting away.

I’m having a lot of fun making them, and hope to see them finished soon. I might even make a few more for sale (without the custom wedding engraving, of course).

A few new things on this cup that may draw your attention…
First, the glaze. This is my new blue glaze (which I haven’t named yet) on my black stoneware clay body. I know, not really that blue, but it looks (and feels) amazing. Specially that overlap area with Imperial White.

Second, I am trying a new foot trimming technique where instead of blending the curve of the body into the foot I leave a sharp edge, like a tiny little cliff, at the edge of te cup. It’s new, I kinda like it… What do you think?
