Interior design🤍 has existed for centuries, even before it had a name
Ancient Egyptians carefully styled their homes with furniture, textiles and decorative objects, while wealthy Romans designed rooms for beauty, comfort and entertaining. Modern interior design as a profession began to emerge in the 1800s, when homes became more focused on personal style and atmosphere.

One of the first recognised interior decorators was Elsie de Wolfe in the early 1900s. She became famous for creating lighter, softer interiors at a time when homes were often dark and heavily decorated. Many of today’s timeless interior ideas 🤍 comfort, elegance and layered living 🤍 were influenced by her work.
