Van Uffelen Gallery and Picture Framing

🚴‍♂️🇨🇦 A little gift from Canada with a BIG message for Lars! 😂

Our daughter brought this tea towel back for Lars to remind him why he should get out on his bike!

We’ve framed it by float mounting the entire tea towel to show the edges.

The green inner frame was custom designed and made to match the green within the piece.

Turning a cheeky reminder into a fun piece of framed art.

Now Lars… no excuses!

This piece is a good example of something different that can look pretty good framed.

What have you got tucked away that could look pretty cool framed and on display?

Well, this one doesn’t beat around the bush!

“DO EPIC SH*T” surrounded by beautiful blooms, butterflies and a healthy dose of attitude.

This print recently came through our workshop, and it certainly gave us something to smile about. Delicate flowers and a rather direct pep talk… quite the combination!

Who needs a motivational podcast when your wall can get straight to the point?

Bring a little bit of your holiday home...

Some souvenirs take you straight back to a place the sights, the people and the feeling of being somewhere new.

This Egyptian papyrus is a beautiful example.

Made from the papyrus plant, its natural texture and uneven edges are part of its character. We’ve float-mounted it against a dark background to keep those edges visible and in its natural form. We complete the look with a simple black and gold frame and, of course, art glass to reduce reflection.

Framing a holiday memento gives it a place in your everyday life, keeping those memories alive long after the suitcases are unpacked.

Made to measure!

The beauty of custom framing is that it can be designed for both the artwork and the space it will hang in.

For this wedding photo, our client gave us all the measurements of the space and also the draws below. Lars used those measurements to work out the proportions of the finished piece, creating something that feels right at home in its intended spot.

It’s a lovely example of what’s possible when a frame is custom made just for you.

Framing spotlight!

Giving Artwork Space to Stand Out!

Float mounting raises the artwork slightly above the background, creating depth and a subtle shadow around its edges.

It’s a wonderful way to showcase the artwork’s full shape while giving the finished piece a strong sense of presence.

Have something special you’d like to display?

Bring it into Van Uffelen Gallery and let’s explore the framing possibilities.

It's party hat time!

Happy birthday to Lars, Andee, and Fran, who all have their birthdays this month!

Another year older, another year wiser... maybe! 🤔

Friday Framing Showcase

This week’s showcase is all about how the right frame can become part of the artwork.

This beautiful floral photograph by Laura Tait has been finished with a bold black frame and detailed gold inner frame. The touch of gold picks up the warm tones in the flowers, while the black creates a strong contrast and lets the colours really stand out.

The close-up lets you see the detail that goes into choosing and combining mouldings to create the finished look.

A striking piece and a great example of what custom framing can add to an artwork.

This Ivan Clarke limited edition giclée recently left our workshop, and we couldn't help but share it.

There is something about Ivan Clarke's work that always makes people stop and take a second look. At first glance, it's a snowy ski scene, but before long you're noticing all the characters, expressions and little touches of humour woven throughout the artwork.

For this piece, we paired the print with a frame that gives it plenty of presence without overpowering the artwork itself.

It's always satisfying seeing a limited edition print move from being something carefully stored away to becoming a feature piece ready to be enjoyed every day.

Have you got a favourite artwork sitting in a spare room, in a cupboard, or under a bed, waiting to be framed?

Let our team bring it to life with a custom-made frame.
