🔥 1200°C. Molten glass. Your turn. 🦆✨

We’re still blown away by how well these guys handled the heat! All the way from Dublin, fellow duck lovers Hugh & Lu made the trip to our hotshop in Roscommon for a seriously unique experience.

They gathered molten glass at 1200 degrees, then dropped, blew, stretched, shaped — and even smashed it — to create something completely their own. 🔥

Time for a little experimenting! 🔥

I’ve pulled a coloured glass “cane” from the furnace and I’m cutting it into roughly 1cm lengths. I’ll group the pieces together and then test-fire them in the kiln up to melting temperature.

There’s a bigger plan behind all of this… but, honestly, I’m not quite sure yet how it’s going to work! 😅

So you’ll have to stay tuned and see what evolves. 👀

First time Glassblowers from Co. Wicklow visited the studio today and made these awesome creations! How good are they!?

One of our side quests is to empower young people to experience our craft and learn new skills. This group are fellow and were keen to try something new and exciting on the summer holidays.

Renee has a true gift for flowers and is happiest with her hands in the garden. A trained florist and experienced permaculturist, she created this beautiful arrangement using flowers and foliage gathered right here on our property.

This timber was a structural part of our roof! We are currently re-roofing a stone outbuilding likely to be 150 or so years old.

Couldn’t bare seeing it go to firewood and what a class addition to the studio.

Any quess at what kind of timber it is? I’d love to know.
