New babies and another couple on their way means some beanie knitting for me. Beanies make such great little gifts for new Mums 🥰

I chose Olive and Sage in Touch Yarns with a really soft organic pink in Lammermoor. I had plenty of yarn left to make the 3rd hat striped from the first 2 balls and I will knit up sage next, perhaps with a soft pink stripe 🤍

Bubblegum 😋 A new colour from Touch Yarns so I had to purchase some! I’m knitting my favourite vest which is also very popular with you all. This one is being made to fit 2-3 years and will be soft and pretty in NZ merino 🌸

These cotton bags are fun to knit with the simple lace work, but the straps are a bit of a drag knitting 10 stitches back and forth approximately 130 times! I’m yet to decide whether I line this one, it may not need it as the cotton is more stringlike than the last cotton I used, so I feel it’s got a bit more ‘grunt’. One Christmas bag almost finished ✔️🎄🎁

Rowan Felted Tweed is so lovely to knit, it’s soft but also very light. This leafy green is so amazing with little tweedy bits that aren’t very obvious in my photo 🍃

Knitted to fit 6-12 months in a 50/50 blend of alpaca and merino, it’s a fun vest in Denim Blue with lovely textures.
I’m getting lots of requests for vests due to the changeable spring temperatures and I am almost ready to cast on a pink one (different pattern) size 2-3 years 🌸
Please send me message if you have any questions 😊

I’ve made 2 cotton bags for myself recently and I actually love them both so I’ve decided I need to knit a couple for Christmas presents. They’re a really easy project and very satisfying using organic cotton 🤎

I’m almost at the right length and then to finish, an easy 1x1 rib. Little sleeves don’t take too long for a 1 year old so I’m hoping to have this finished by the end of the week. I absolutely love this green, it reminds me of pine trees 🌲

Lotus Leaf Green 💚
I finally cast on a new little jumper in gorgeous Rowan Felted Tweed - a blend of merino and alpaca with a small amount of viscose in it. I learnt today that viscose makes the fabric smoother and lighter and is a fibre made from plant cellulose, usually from wood pulp like pine or eucalyptus (you learn something every day!)The tweedy effect and feel of this yarn is so lovely and I’m enjoying knitting it. This pattern has the textured yoke which is very popular and I’m knitting it to fit a 1 year old.

I’m trying out different methods for the brim or band of a beanie. There are lots of different styles - 2x2 rib, 1x1 rib, garter rib, folded brim and rolled edge are the most common. But I think I’ve found my favourite which is twisted rib. This is where you knit through the back of the knit stitch on a 1x1 rib. Even though it’s slightly less stretchy than a standard rib it’s neat and more defined. I’m trying to make a beanie with the leftovers of every little jumper I make so I’m ready for next winter 🤍

This has already sold but I’ll be knitting more over the next few weeks. Little vests have become quite the trend it seems 😊
This pattern is made to fit 6-12 months and is knitted in Inca Spun Alpaca, it’s soft and highlights the texture of the different stitches. I have some Touch Yarns ‘bubblegum’ merino I’m keen to cast on soon so keep an eye out for that one 🌸
