A little storybook whimsy, beautiful timber details, and her new “shoes” taking centre stage. 🤎 In a room filled with beautiful antiques, art collected over time in rich mahogany and gilded frames, and a touch of whimsy in every corner, sat a modern sofa.

Her design was beautiful, her fabric classic and comfortable… but she looked as though she’d arrived at the ball in her sneakers.

All she needed to fit perfectly was a change of shoes.

Sometimes, it’s the smallest details that bring the whole room together. 🤎

It’s all about the details…

When we look around a home, we look from top to bottom, imagining the beautiful little moments we can create.

Behind so many of those moments are talented craftspeople who help bring our ideas to life. This morning, we got to spend time with one of them, watching these beautiful pieces of art take shape.

The curves, the grain of the oak, the contrast of dark and light… there’s so much to love. Pieces like these bring different timber tones together, helping a room full of collected furniture feel beautifully connected.

Thoughtful details. Clever hands. A little everyday art. 🤎

Three months in… and she’s had a little makeover. 🤎

Today marks three months since we first put everything together in the studio, ready to open our doors on the 1st of July.

And because change is as good as a holiday, we thought our three-month anniversary was the perfect excuse for a refresh.

Two and a half hours of art down, mirrors down, furniture shuffled and pottery shelves moved… and suddenly she feels like a whole new space.

We’ve added a fabric rack and a beautiful new/old design table — giving us somewhere to spread out, work our magic and keep our favourite fabrics, rugs and wallpapers right at arm’s reach.

Because Timber + Thread was always meant to be more than a store.

It’s a working design studio, but it’s also a place to be inspired — to touch the fabrics, play with pattern, layer colours and see ideas begin to take shape.

Three months down, and our little studio is evolving right along with us.

Collected slowly. Designed intentionally. 🤎

Fridays are for fabric… 🤎

Wandering through the archives of beautiful Clarke & Clarke, catching up with an old friend from a past life, and getting completely lost amongst pattern, colour and cloth.

So full of life. So full of colour. And somehow still carrying that beautiful whimsy of yesteryear — the kind of prints that feel nostalgic, yet completely at home in the here and now.

Villa Textiles never disappoints.

We’ve come away with our heads full of ideas, our creative cups overflowing, and feeling completely inspired after an afternoon surrounded by so much beauty.

There really is something magical about fabric… the way it can transform a chair, soften a room, tell a story and bring an entire scheme to life.

Now to decide which ones we simply have to use… 🌿

We absolutely love fabric—and there’s something so special about heritage brands like Sanderson and Morris & Co., creating beautiful textiles that have stood the test of time.

Their designs are just as captivating today as they were all those years ago, proving that some beautiful old things really are made to stay.

We love finding beautiful old vessels for your favourite stems.

Whether it’s a handful of wildflowers gathered on a morning walk, fresh blooms from the garden, everlasting dried flowers, or simply a few leafy branches, the right vessel can transform something simple into something special.

A weathered ceramic jug, an old glass bottle, a timeworn vase… we believe the pieces with a little history are often the ones that bring the most beauty. They add warmth, character and that wonderfully collected feeling that makes a house feel like home.

A little old-world charm has arrived in the studio…

These beautiful Queen Anne–style footstools have been lovingly recovered in Brixham Duck Egg fabric—a soft, timeless stripe that pairs perfectly with the warmth of the timber.

Each has its own lovely character, with two different leg styles: one with a traditional pad foot and the other featuring a beautifully carved scroll and claw foot.

Made to pair with our Arlington wingback chairs, they’re equally gorgeous all on their own—tucked beneath a dressing table for your morning make-up ritual, used as a petite ottoman in the living room, or placed in front of your favourite chair for putting your feet up at the end of the day.

Beautiful, practical and full of character… just how we like our furniture. 🤎
