Hospice Whanganui Christmas Market – Sunday 18 December
Hospice Whanganui is having a Christmas Market on Sunday, 18 December from 2pm to 8pm at the Whanganui Racecourse – with 160 to 170 stall holders. There will be something for everyone. It is Hospice Whanganui’s major fundraiser for the year – so will be an opportunity to support a most worthwhile cause while doing last minute Christmas shopping while having fun. There is a gold coin donation entry fee per person.
As Kelly Scarrow from Hospice says, “All monies raised go directly to Hospice Whanganui, to help us to continue to provide free specialist palliative care and support to our patients and their whanau.”
The food and drink offerings will be extensive with over 40 food carts. One major contributor to the cause will be the local Roots Brewery and their bar. Brewer, Andrew Henshaw, is promising all proceeds from the day will go direct to Hospice Whanganui. A pint of b**r is $10.
To mark the occasion Andrew brewed a special b**r. “It is an easy drinking 5% pale ale to be called ‘Hospice Kowhai Pale Ale. It will be ready this week.” The b**r will be served in pint sized cups. As well, Roots Brewery will have their own brewed soft drinks, a shandy at 2% alcohol and c***r as well as a range of other b**rs.
As part of the bar there will be a BBQ donated by the team at Mainfreight.
Andrew says, “Personally I have been a supporter of Hospice Whanganui for 15 years. They helped my family out and I reason that if I help them, they will be able to help other people. They are doing great work and I’m happy to give something back.”
This is the first year Hospice has held a Christmas Market and Kelly says, “There will be plenty of stalls to check out from candles to honey, homecraft, jewelry, food products and so on. It will also be in a low stress, sunny environment. You can have a late lunch and/or an early dinner.”
