Yay, finally what seems to be a good attempt to try and stop fake/misleading Ai generated crochet pattern listings on Etsy!

Etsy have just brought out a whole lot of new policies in regards to how Ai can be used in shop listings, We will even be able to report fake Ai listings now! Perhaps legitimate designers will be seen again and survive another day! 🤞

I particularly like this part, so long as they can actually enforce it.

"If you sell craft patterns, recipes, seeds, or similar items, include at least one real, unedited photo of something made using your product. For example, a completed crochet project made from your pattern or a blooming flower grown from your seeds. AI-generated images cannot be the only images used to show the finished result."

No one ever talks about the aftermath of a market, especially when it has rained! 🌧 Drying the gazebo, washing the table cloths, mending sandbags and putting everything away.

Well it was market day yesterday, a long day, but overall a good one at Spring Into Tawa. A typical spring day, it was cold and windy, there was some rain, sunshine and rainbows! Still the community came and supported us as always!

How I Price My Items for Market

People often ask this and the honest answer is there is no easy way!
But here is a rough formula so you can see how it works.

Time = 1c for every 2 Stitches
Stuffing $1.60/ 100g
Yarn $8 per 100g
Stall set amount $1
Price Tag 14 cents
Rattle 40 cents
Sewing level - easy = $5, med = $10, hard =$15

So a Sleepy Doll Baby Rattle costing looks like this:

Time Cost $16.395
Rattle $0.40
Stuffing $1.20
Yarn $4.00
Sewing level Easy $5.00
Tag $0.14
Stall Cost $1.00
Total $28.135
Final Rounded Cost $30.00

These actually take about 5 hours to make @$20/hr that would be $111.74 !!!

If you have been wondering how to price your items, the best answer is to set prices you are happy with. make sure you cover your expenses and are getting something extra for your time! At the end of the day if you are happy with what you are charging then you have the right price for you! 🧡

Every year before market Miss Craftychick and I do a practice set up, check all items have price tags and signs and make a list of things still left to do! Couldn't do it without her.🩷🩷 It took us all day, but we got there, it would take a week by myself 😆
