Decided not to go to Thorndon Fair - and it was definitely the right call!

Went and saw Logan perform senior choir (which I usually miss when I have a stand) so that was a lovely upside!

So this is the culmination of about 6 months of planning, designing, dyeing and lastly weaving. Still needs to be hemmed and steamed, but I think she’s lovely!

I hope you’re all enjoying the long weekend - Matariki! A time for reflection, gratitude and making plans.

Almost a month ago I was admitted to hospital with a burst appendix. It’s been a LONG time since anything brought me to a complete stop.

Well - this did.

A week in hospital, a week at home recovering, and now two weeks back at work.

This weekend I can actually weave properly again!

The human body is a miraculous thing. When you let it!

Pictures show the “view” from my hospital bed on the day I was discharged (for most of the week, I was in an internal room with no windows) and the some of the tapestry weaving I’ve been doing because the rug on my floor loom required too much physical strength and exertion… and then the rug… back to it! Over half way now.

Take care out there!!

Another productive weekend!

This rug is coming along. Just passed 1.8 metres… another 3.2 to go. Loving the colours and the layout… last batch of dyeing (fingers 🤞 crossed) yesterday. Full speed ahead!

A few thoughts from me about constraints and creativity... enjoy!

Every artistic medium has constraints. While these can seem annoying at the time, it turns out creativity and constraints go hand-in-hand.

Just a few thoughts about bringing my work-life and non-work-life together... enjoy!

Hobbies and crafts are more important if you have a busy career than you might think. They help create work-life balance and whimsy in life.
