When homeowners come in with pets, children, or concerns about durability, the first thing we tell them is to think about how they actually live in their home, rather than choosing a floor based purely on appearance.

Some of the key things we recommend they look for are scratch resistance, stain resistance and ease of cleaning, water resistance, comfort underfoot, warranty and product suitability, and maintenance requirements.

Our advice is always to match the flooring to the family, not just the home because the best floor isn't necessarily the most expensive one, it's the one that suits how you live every day.

We’ve got John taking us through one of the projects currently underway for our friends at Findlay Residential Ltd.

For this project, he’s laying Hurfords Genuine Oak in the colour Western, a finish that suited the home really well and tied in nicely with the overall palette.

Sometimes the original flooring selection just doesn’t feel right once the rest of the home starts coming together.

That was the case on this project.

The original flooring selection didn’t quite hit the mark, and both the client and builder were on the hunt for something that felt like a better fit.

After being recommended to come and see us, we worked through a range of options together and helped guide the final selection toward the right fit.

The final choice was Hurfords Genuine Oak in Western. A warm engineered timber that brings a softer, more natural feel through the space without overpowering everything around it.
