Behind the scenes of a tile pattern coming to life.

This week, we mocked up the layout on site with our clients, comparing the product image, CAD elevations, and actual tile in the space before installation begins.

It’s a small step that makes a big difference, helping everyone confirm the pattern, scale, and placement before anything becomes permanent.

Cat’s Artist Crush! “Fadenschein” by

While unloading the dishwasher one day, Helena Hafemann dropped a porcelain saucer and watched it shatter. In an instant, it lost its function; but not its meaning.

Instead of throwing it away, she began questioning what gives an object value. If utility disappears, does worth disappear with it? Or can transformation create something new?

Her work invites us to reconsider value; not as function alone, but as memory, sentiment, and reinvention.

Last night, Mike and Cat attended the Blue Chip Design Awards, a collaboration between SHLTR Magazine, Aaron Gordon Construction, and Strata Landscape Architecture.

The evening celebrated design submissions for a truly unique project near the Yuba River, with awards recognizing creativity, vision, and thoughtful design responses to a beautiful site.
It was such a fun night connecting with the design community, seeing everyone’s ideas come to life, and celebrating the talent that makes this industry so inspiring.
