Instructions
Step 1: Make the Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (it will be thin).
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 2: Make the Glaze
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer.
Place the chocolate chips and butter in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let sit for 2-3 minutes, then whisk until smooth.
Step 3: Assemble the Cake
Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a thin layer of glaze over the top.
Place the second cake layer on top and pour the remaining glaze over the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
Step 4: Serve and Enjoy
Let the glaze set for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
