Thank You, Lord, for the Struggles

Scripture:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
— Romans 8:28

Reflection:
It’s easy to thank God when everything in life feels right — when prayers are answered, doors open, and blessings seem to overflow. But what about the times when life doesn’t make sense? When our plans fall apart, when people disappoint us, or when we face pain we never expected?

In those moments, gratitude doesn’t come easily. We ask, “Why me, Lord?” But even when we can’t understand, God’s love never fails. Every adversity carries a purpose in His divine plan. Sometimes He allows storms not to break us, but to shape us — to strengthen our faith, deepen our compassion, and draw us closer to Him.

There’s a story about a woman who carried two pots of water from a river to her home each day. One pot was perfect, while the other had a crack and leaked water along the path. Every day, the cracked pot felt useless because it couldn’t hold as much water as the perfect one. After years of shame, it finally told the woman, “I’m sorry for being broken. Because of me, you get less water.”

The woman smiled kindly and said, “Did you notice the flowers on your side of the path? I planted seeds there, knowing your cracks would water them each day. Look how beautiful they’ve grown.”

The cracked pot was silent, realizing for the first time that its flaw had a purpose — one it never knew.

In the same way, God uses our brokenness to bring beauty to the world. The struggles we wish we didn’t have, the tears we’ve cried, the waiting we’ve endured — none of it is wasted. God can turn our weakness into strength, our pain into purpose, and our tests into testimonies.

What we see as delay or disappointment is often preparation. He may be shaping us into someone stronger, wiser, and more compassionate — someone who reflects His love more clearly to others.

That’s why I believe in thanking God not only for blessings but also for adversities. Because every hardship carries a hidden lesson — a gentle reminder that His plan is always greater than ours.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving me through every season — in joy and in pain. When I can’t see the reason behind my struggles, help me to trust that You are working all things for my good. Teach me to be grateful not only for the blessings but also for the trials, knowing they are shaping me into who You want me to be. Thank You for the lessons that come through pain, for the strength that grows through hardship, and for the peace that comes from trusting You completely.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Takeaway Thought:
Every struggle carries purpose. What feels broken today may be the very thing God uses to water someone else’s life — and one day, you’ll look back and see that every hardship was a beautiful part of His plan.

Devotion: Jesus Our Ever-Present Help in Times of Need

Verse: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1

When we face times of need, it is easy to rely on our own strength, but Jesus calls us to lean on Him. Just like He calmed the storm for His disciples, He calms the storms in our hearts today. We may not always see the answer immediately, but His presence assures us that we are safe in His hands.

Jesus is not just a helper for emergencies—He is a daily source of guidance, strength, and peace. He helps us endure trials, comforts us when we are broken, and provides wisdom when we don’t know what to do.

Reflection Questions:
✝️What burdens am I carrying that I need to give to Jesus today?
✝️How have I experienced His help in the past?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I praise You for being my ever-present help. In my weakness, be my strength. In my fear, be my peace. Help me to remember that I am never alone because You are always with me. Amen.

❤️Loved When We’re Hard to Love❤️

Scripture: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

There are days when we feel unworthy. We stumble, we resist, we complain, we choose everything but God. If people treated us the way we sometimes treat Him, we’d probably give up on them. But God doesn’t give up. He doesn’t love us because we’re easy to love. He loves us because that’s who He is.

God’s love isn’t fragile. It isn’t based on our performance, moods, or faithfulness. His love is steady, unshaken, and relentless. Scripture doesn’t just say God shows love—it says God is love (1 John 4:8). Love is His very nature. That means He can’t stop loving, even when we’re at our worst.

Think about that: the Creator of the universe knows every thought, every failure, every secret we’d rather hide—and He still calls us His own. His love doesn’t minimize our sin, but it overwhelms it. His love meets us in our mess and lifts us up, again and again.

When we remember this, it changes how we see Him and how we see ourselves. We stop trying to earn what’s already freely given. We stop doubting whether we’ve gone too far. We rest in the truth that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38–39).

Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me when I’m hard to love. Thank You for being faithful when I’m unfaithful. Help me to trust Your love more than my feelings, and to reflect that same love to others. Amen.

🌸 For Such a Time as This 🌸

The story of Esther reminds us that God places us exactly where we need to be, even when we don’t understand why. Esther was an orphan, a foreigner, and a woman in a powerful empire—but God used her to save an entire nation.

When faced with fear, she chose faith. When given the option to stay silent, she spoke up with courage. Her words, “If I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16), show us the beauty of surrendering fully to God’s plan.

Like Esther, we are called to moments of courage—whether in our families, workplaces, or communities. We may not wear a crown, but God has placed us “for such a time as this” to be a light, to speak truth, and to show love.

✨ Reflection: Where might God be calling you to step out in courage today?

🌸 The Story of Esther
• A Jewish orphan raised by her cousin Mordecai
Esther was a young Jewish girl living in Persia. She lost her parents early in life and was raised by Mordecai, her cousin. Despite her humble beginnings, she grew into a woman of grace and beauty—both inside and out.
• Chosen as Queen
King Xerxes (Ahasuerus) was searching for a new queen. Out of many women, Esther was chosen—not only because of her beauty but also because God’s favor rested on her.
• A Secret Identity
At Mordecai’s advice, Esther kept her Jewish identity hidden. This later became crucial for God’s plan.
• A Great Threat
An evil official, Haman, hated the Jews and persuaded the king to issue a decree to destroy them. This meant Esther’s people—including herself—were facing annihilation.
• A Moment of Courage
Mordecai told Esther: “Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).
These words stirred her courage. Though appearing before the king uninvited could mean death, Esther bravely said: “If I perish, I perish.”
• Her Bold Action
Esther risked her life, approached the king, and invited him and Haman to banquets. With wisdom and patience, she revealed Haman’s evil plot at the right moment.
• Deliverance of God’s People
Because of Esther’s courage, the king spared the Jews and punished Haman. The Jewish people were saved, and the Feast of Purim was established to remember God’s deliverance through Esther.

✨ Why Esther is Special as a Woman of God
1. Faithful in Obedience – She trusted Mordecai’s guidance and God’s timing.
2. Courageous in Crisis – She risked her life for her people.
3. Wise and Patient – She waited for the right moment to speak, showing discernment.
4. Selfless and Brave – She chose sacrifice over safety, putting God’s people above her own comfort.
5. A Vessel of God’s Plan – Even though God’s name is never directly mentioned in the book of Esther, His hand is seen in every detail of her story.

🌺 Esther’s life teaches us that God can use anyone—no matter their background or fears—to accomplish His purposes. Her beauty was not just outward but rooted in her faith, courage, and obedience.

Signs of the End Times: Bible Prophecies Unfolding Today

1. Increase of Wickedness & Lack of Love

📖 Matthew 24:12 (NIV)
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”

Explanation:
Jesus said that in the last days, sin and evil would multiply. We see this today in violence, corruption, hatred, and the breakdown of family values. People have become more selfish, less compassionate, and love has grown cold — with indifference to others’ suffering.

2. People Lovers of Self, Money & Pleasure

📖 2 Timothy 3:1–4 (NIV)
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”

Explanation:
This sounds exactly like today’s society — obsessed with money, fame, power, and pleasure. Social media culture encourages self-obsession, disobedience is widespread, and many reject God’s ways in favor of entertainment and comfort.

3. Scoffers & Mockers of Faith

📖 2 Peter 3:3–4 (NIV)
“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, ‘Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.’”

Explanation:
Today, many mock Christianity and dismiss the return of Christ as a myth. Faith is often ridiculed, and people prefer to follow their own desires instead of God’s Word.

4. Wars, Famines, Earthquakes, Pestilence

📖 Matthew 24:6–7 (NIV)
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”

Explanation:
The world is filled with conflicts, threats of global war, natural disasters, food shortages, and pandemics. These events are not new, but their frequency and intensity seem to be increasing, just as Jesus foretold.

5. Knowledge and Travel Increasing

📖 Daniel 12:4 (NIV)
“But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”

Explanation:
In the end times, knowledge and travel would rapidly increase. This prophecy is striking today: modern technology, the internet, AI, global travel, and scientific discoveries are advancing at unprecedented speed.

6. Good Called Evil & Evil Called Good

📖 Isaiah 5:20 (NIV)
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

Explanation:
In our world today, sin is often celebrated, while biblical values are mocked. What was once considered shameful is now normalized, and those who stand for God’s truth are often attacked.
