Authorities in Los Angeles have identified the body found in the trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to singer d4vd as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, back in April 2024. The car had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for about a month before being towed to an impound lot where officers responded to reports of a foul odor, discovering a dismembered body wrapped in a bag on September 8th. Authorities estimated the body had been there for roughly 5 days before the car was towed. The Los Angeles Police Department is treating the case as a homicide, though Celeste's cause of death remains deferred pending further tests. Following tips from Celeste’s mother, detectives searched a Hollywood Hills home linked to d4vd, a computer, hair samples, and other potential evidence. Investigators later confirmed Rivas had a “Shhh…” tattoo on her right index finger, and photos show d4vd with the same tattoo, while leaked footage and online images appear to place the two together in the past. Fans also resurfaced a leaked 2023 demo titled “Celeste”, though police have not confirmed any direct link between the song and Rivas. The singer has canceled multiple U.S. shows, and his label has halted the release of a deluxe edition of his debut album. However, no suspects have been named and no charges filed, leaving both Rivas’s family and the public waiting for answers.
