HABI&KATSA PH🇵🇭 My first personal meeting and interaction with an actual Weaver was in Benguet, Mountain Province. The Weaver is a part of the Benguet Women Weaving Community. I was able to interact with them, talked to them and they share some sentiments that they do face some challenges. That time in 2012, I was thinking: Is weaving a dying culture?
In 2011, I met Ezra Aranduque, owner of the Sagada Weaving Center. He also shared some struggles that they experience where the young generations for example, do not show any interest in continuing the culture of weaving in Sagada and in the Mt. Province as a whole.
I continue to immerse myself with more weaving communities, in my home province in Cavite, Batangas, Abra, Iloilo, and Lanao del Sur. Where I was acquainted with the group of weavers from Maragondon, Indang, Ibaan, Peñarubia, Salngan, and Marawi City.
