What If We Designed a House That Doesn’t Need Aircon?

Possible siya—but the secret isn’t a special material.

It starts with good design.

Proper window placement can help catch natural airflow.
Deep roof overhangs can block direct sunlight.
High ceilings and vents can let hot air escape.

Then add trees, shading, insulation, and light-colored exterior finishes to reduce heat gain.

The goal isn’t necessarily a house that’s always cold.

It’s a house that doesn’t heat up easily.

So, would you choose a naturally cool house over an air-conditioned one?

WHAT IF YOUR HOUSE COULD SURVIVE 3 DAYS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY?

Imagine mawalan ng kuryente for three days.

Walang aircon.
Walang ilaw.
Walang electric fan.
At limited ang water supply.

Pero paano kung designed talaga ang bahay para dito?

Pwedeng gumamit ng cross ventilation para may natural airflow kahit walang aircon.

Large operable windows can bring in natural light and ventilation.

Pwedeng may solar panels with battery storage para sa essential lights, fans, internet, at selected appliances.

At importante rin ang water storage, proper drainage, at passive cooling strategies.

Hindi ibig sabihin na completely off-grid ang bahay.

Ang goal?

Kahit mawalan ng electricity, livable pa rin ang bahay.

So, kung magde-design ka ng bahay ngayon…

What if your house had a swimming pool… right in the middle?

Sounds luxurious, right?

Pero possible itong design concept—especially for houses built around a central courtyard.

Instead na nasa backyard, the pool becomes the center of the house, surrounded by spaces like the living room, dining area, or even bedrooms.

Imagine waking up and seeing the pool right outside your room.

Pero may catch.

Moisture.

Indoor or semi-indoor pools need proper ventilation and dehumidification to prevent condensation, mold, and damage to finishes.

Then there’s waterproofing, drainage, and safety, especially if may children.

But with proper planning, a central pool can become the heart of the house—beautiful, relaxing, and functional.

So yes, possible siya.

Because in architecture, what looks beautiful also has to work

What if we built a house UNDERGROUND in the Philippines?

Imagine…

Pagpasok mo sa bahay, hindi pataas ang rooms—

pababa.

Living room, bedrooms, kitchen, at even a garden… all underground.

Pero eto ang problema:

Baha. Groundwater. At earthquakes.

Kaya kailangan ng serious planning sa waterproofing, drainage, structure, ventilation, at emergency exits.

Pero hindi ibig sabihin na magiging madilim ang bahay.

Pwedeng gumamit ng skylights, light wells, at sunken courtyards para makapasok ang natural light.

So, possible ba?

Yes.
