Down-to-earth but imaginative, life in the sugar plantations of Negros Island in Central Philippines inspired HACIENDA CRAFTS to produce and export handcrafted furniture and home accessories. Founded in the early 1990s, the vision of HACIENDA CRAFTS is to translate Negros Island design and creativity into distinct products that transcend boundaries, to transform a genteel and artistic lifestyle in

to unique furniture pieces that appeal to people worldwide. Towards that vision, HACIENDA CRAFTS weaves rustic "hacienda" charm into every furniture design, creating high quality, handcrafted pieces that soften contemporary living spaces with aesthetic excitement and practical sense.

Our Foliage Leaf Trays celebrate the distinct silhouettes of the Bamboo, Binunga, and Bajang leaves. Every vein and contour is meticulously structured using baragubay (coconut twigs)—bringing raw, organic texture and timeless Filipino artistry straight to your tabletop layout.

If you love the organic ribbing of our signature Foliage leaf trays, you already know the work of this incredible material: Baragubay.

But today, we want to share the story behind how it reaches our workshop. In our local communities, baragubay (dried coconut twigs) is traditionally gathered by farmers to be used as simple firewood. However, through a long-standing partnership, a local farmer collects and delivers these sturdy, tapered twigs straight to our doorstep instead.

We are able to transform what was otherwise discarded into a premium design element. This simple shift provides a valuable, steady alternative source of income for our partner farming families.

Keep an eye on our page this week as we give you a closer look at how this rugged material shapes our Foliage Leaf Tray collection.

We are beyond thrilled to share the completed installation now hanging at the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore!

Seeing this map fully mounted in a diplomatic space is a incredible celebration of how art and design can educate and bring people together. Every single element serves a purpose—from the hand-coiled topography down to each handmade copper bead representing a provincial capital. It transforms a spatial map into an interactive piece of story-telling, allowing visitors at the embassy to learn about our regional geography while instantly feeling connected to home.

For our team, seeing this installation in place reinforces why we do what we do: using creative craft to preserve heritage, share local knowledge, and support the rural communities whose hands shape these pieces.

If you are looking to bring a custom woven installation or bespoke piece into your space, send us a message! We would love to collaborate with you.

We are so glad to continue sharing the story behind our custom installation for the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore!

Months ago, as this project was taking shape, we were glad to welcome the clients to our central workshop in Manapla. Having them visit our workshop made this collaboration even more meaningful as they spent time with us walking through the step-by-step layout and structural mounting.

Together, we reviewed how each hand-woven piece fit against the giant outline of the Philippine map, ensuring every elevation, island curve, and placement came together before final assembly.

We are so thrilled to share a special milestone! Our custom project with the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore brings a true piece of home into a diplomatic space, and bringing this to life has been such a joyful journey for our team.

This installation uses design to educate and foster connection. Artisans in the uplands of Negros Occidental—our weaving partners in Brgy. Celestino Villacin, Cadiz, alongside our weavers in Manapla—hand-wove small discs and cones using wild cogon grass gathered straight from their surrounding fields.

Each woven piece was carefully shaped to mimic the natural topography of our island peaks and mountain ranges. Nestled within these topography peaks, each handmade copper bead represents a capital of our provinces, mapping out the archipelago to create a physical touchpoint for visitors at the Embassy to connect with home.

Our workshop team mapped and arranged these individual woven forms over a giant printout of the Philippine map, shaping the natural textures into the familiar silhouette of our home islands before final assembly.

We cannot wait to show you more of this process! Stay tuned as we share behind-the-scenes moments from the workshop and the final installation in Singapore later this week.

Making lamps is a bit different from building a real nest, though we are still learning from the birds who remain the true experts in this field. With our Pugad Outdoor Lamp, we take our time in the workshop to get the shape right, hoping to capture that same sense of shelter they weave into the trees.

Nature often does the hard work of design, and we feel lucky for the chance to follow its lead.

We usually let the natural, earthy tones of our raw materials speak for themselves but sometimes it is nice to have a little fun with color. We take a familiar, everyday tool and give it a playful personality.
