TATY A makerspace for children to develop a passion for creativity early on and become capable makers.

I thought the breakthrough would be the project.
I didn’t realize it would be my own children.

I will never get tired of seeing breakthroughs.

But this one hit differently.

I watched my own children teach younger kids how to finish their woodwork projects—patiently guiding them, encouraging them when they got stuck, and celebrating when they finally figured it out.

And suddenly, I wasn't just watching kids build with wood.

I was watching my children become builders of other people.

Because the goal was never just to teach them how to use tools or make something with their hands.

It was to help them become capable enough to eventually give that confidence away.

To go from “Look what I can make”
to “Let me show you how.”

And honestly, that's the breakthrough I'll never get tired of seeing.

22 little moments at TATY.

Kids measuring.
Kids drilling.
Kids figuring things out.
Kids asking for help when they need it.
Kids trying again.
Kids getting comfortable with the tools in their hands.

Nothing staged. Nothing performed.

Just children doing real work with real tools, taking their time, making decisions, and getting lost in the process of making.

And sometimes, in between all the noise of the shop, you catch that moment—

That little shift in posture.
That look of “I’ve got this.”
That quiet confidence that comes from doing something with your own two hands.

Those are the moments I love capturing.

Not because we need to prove anything.

But because this is what learning can look like when children are given the space, tools, and time to actually do.

So parents, take a moment.

Watch them work.
Watch their hands.
Watch their faces.

And soak it in. 🪵🤎

"Be careful."

It's one of the first things we tell children.

And yes, they need to learn caution.

But if that's all they hear, they may also learn to doubt themselves.

At TATY, we teach children to respect real tools—not fear them. We guide them to think before they act, to solve problems, to try again after mistakes, and to discover what they're capable of.

Because alongside "Be careful," every child also deserves to hear:

"You can do hard things."

Confidence isn't built by keeping children away from challenges.

It's built by walking beside them as they overcome them.

That's how capable hands—and courageous hearts—are made.

As a mom, seeing my daughter become that kind of presence for another child is deeply emotional. Not because she was teaching a project, but because she was offering something even more valuable—her patience, her kindness, and her confidence.

We often talk about building confident kids. But sometimes, the real evidence isn’t in the finished wooden project. It’s in a simple glance, a shared smile, and a child who feels secure because someone believes in them.

These are the moments I treasure most.

This is the kind of building that lasts. 🤎🪵

Thank you Dimple Juanson for this.

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that childhood should always feel easy.

So, we simplified the projects.
We removed the struggle.
We stepped in before frustration had a chance to become perseverance.

But children weren't made to avoid hard things.

They were made to wrestle with them.

So yes—let's give them work worth doing.

🪄 Magic word? FORCE.

Our little builders thought they were simply making Plankton the Frog, a fun rolling toy that loves to race across the floor.

But once the building was done, the real magic began.

"What happens if we push it?"
"What if we pull it?"

Without realizing it, they were exploring one of the most important ideas in science: FORCE. Every push and every pull made their frog move in a different way, and suddenly, science wasn't something to memorize—it was something they could see, feel, and discover with their own hands.

That's the kind of magic we love at TATY.

🛠️ Ready to experience the magic with us? Join one of our upcoming workshops and let your child discover that every build holds a new adventure—and maybe a little bit of magic, too. Send us a message to reserve a slot!

PS. Plankton, the Frog Toymaking Session is happening again on August 22, 10am!

✨ August Weekend Schedule Update! ✨

We've made a few changes to our August weekend schedule (and yes, we've already coordinated these with our registered builders), but the exciting news is...

🎉 Our best-selling builds are back!

Because the response to our Jeepney Build has been incredible, the 3:00–5:00 PM session is officially FULL! To welcome more young makers, we've opened a brand new 1:00–3:00 PM Jeepney Build session on the same day.

⚠️ Only 10 slots are available, so if you've been waiting for a sign—this is it!

Our workshops fill up quickly because we intentionally keep our classes small, giving every child plenty of space to learn, build, and create with confidence.

✨ And we're not done yet! Our August weekday schedule will be released very soon, so stay tuned for even more opportunities to build, create, and learn.

The best time to reserve your child's slot is RIGHT NOW. Send us a message to secure your preferred class before the remaining slots are gone. We can't wait to build with you this August!

Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped making because we became afraid of making mistakes.

Last July 3, Grade 1 teachers from Ateneo Grade School gave themselves permission to play again.

They wandered through our Wood Buffet and Loose Parts Bar, treasure-hunting for pieces that caught their eye. No templates. No "right" answers. Just curiosity, exploration, and the joy of discovering what could be made from what others might overlook.

One by one, scraps of wood became something meaningful—a working Scrap Clock that each teacher designed and built themselves.

It was wonderful to watch professionals' step away from lesson plans and deadlines to experiment with composition, form, balance, and hands-on making. There were moments of deep concentration, unexpected discoveries, and plenty of laughter. The room became a reminder that creativity isn't reserved for artists or children—it's something we all need to practice.

If you're looking for a meaningful team experience beyond the usual seminars and outings, Creative Build with Wood offers your group a chance to reconnect—with creativity, with one another, and with the simple joy of making.

Come build something that works.
More importantly, come rediscover the part of you that loves to create.
