Design, for us, is also an act of remembering. This Philippine Independence Day, we are reminded that freedom is not only found in history, but also in the way we choose to build, with respect for place, culture, craft, climate, and community.

As Filipino designers, we continue to shape spaces that are not only beautiful, but meaningful: rooted in the land, guided by local wisdom, and open to the future.

Through natural materials, local craftsmanship, tropical sensibility, and thoughtful design, we hope to contribute to a Filipino design language that is modern, elegant, quiet, and deeply our own.

May we continue to design with purpose, pride, and memory.

A hotel-like home, made personal.

For this residence, the client’s wish was clear: a space that feels seamless, calming, and refined, like coming home to the quiet luxury of a hotel suite, but designed around their exact lifestyle and everyday needs.

Without major construction works, the transformation was achieved through thoughtful interior detailing: streamlined built-ins, concealed and integrated storage, warm wood tones, layered lighting, soft textures, and a cohesive material palette that made the space feel completely renewed.

Every line was intentional. Every storage space was considered. Every finish was chosen to create a home that feels elegant, effortless, and truly lived in.

Take me back.

Back to the quiet moments when the design finally became real — when the curves, textures, natural light, and island breeze all came together as one space.

Hue Siargao was designed to feel calm, open, and deeply connected to its setting. A place where architecture doesn’t overpower the island, but gently frames the experience of being there.

In the wake of recent calamities that have tested Cebu’s resilience, this project stands as a reminder that progress and preservation must go hand in hand.

As we call for accountability for the failures that led to devastating floods, we must also look inward — have we cared for the forests, watersheds, and mountains that once protected us? Have our developments respected nature’s rhythm, or have we built against it?

At M+S Studio Co., we believe design should heal, not harm.
For Lantaw Maribago, every curve, elevation, and structure was designed with intention — to coexist with nature, not overpower it.

The restaurant sits elevated, allowing rising waters to flow freely below while providing functional space for vehicles. Its main materials — bamboo and steel — balance sustainability and strength, capable of swaying with the earth during typhoons or tremors.

Bamboo, being a regenerative material, spares our slow-growing trees and supports reforestation efforts — an act of giving back to the land that sustains us.

The architecture celebrates the harmony between resilience and beauty — a reflection of Cebu’s spirit.
Because true progress is not about how high we build,
but how deeply we stay rooted in nature’s wisdom. 🌱
