Living in a small bahay kubo, reminds me that a home does not need luxury to be beautiful. What matters most is cleanliness, fresh air, and the peaceful feeling of being close to nature.
Some friends asked for a free stay to unwind for the weekend. Close friends actually. Why not! Maintaining a vacation house may look simple from the outside, but it actually requires a lot of time, effort, and money. From regular repairs and utilities to cleaning and general upkeep, the costs can quickly add up. It often feels like it takes a “rib and an arm” just to keep everything in good condition so that the place remains comfortable and welcoming.
Because of this, while I truly value our friendship, it can be difficult to offer the house for free stays. The expenses of maintaining the property are real and ongoing, and they are something I have to carefully manage. I hope it can be understood that taking care of the vacation house is not just about having a place to relax, but also about sustaining the costs that come with it.
Friendship is important to me, and I always appreciate the support and understanding of friends who recognize the effort it takes to maintain such a place.
