Dulong: The Philippine Pavilion for Expo 2030
As the continues to attract visitors in Osaka Japan, we look back at our proposed entry for the Philippine Pavilion in Bcome 2022, an international design competition on national pavilion proposals for Expo 2030 in Busan, South Korea with the theme: Transforming Our World, Navigating toward a Better Future.
For our proposal of the Philippine Pavilion, the form was conceptualized around the "Dulong", the Filipino word used to describe the bow or front portion of a ship's hull.
The entire exposition space is thrust upward, supported by two giant super columns shaped like two ship hulls, each representing the rich maritime history of both Busan, South Korea and The Philippines respectively, merging together to form a massive cantilevered canopy for exhibition-goers. the ground floor was kept as an open plaza suited for welcoming visitors, not unlike the warmth and hospitality Filipinos are known for. Furthermore, the entire structure is clad in reclaimed wood, to give a sense of warmth to the large covered public space.
We provide contemporary architectural, interior design and planning services. As such, we are currently accepting 3 new clients this month.
