Cadena de Amor

Pink is such a soothing color, especially against a verdant background! 🩷

The Cadena de Amor (𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘴) vines on the slope behind the Po***ck Center have been blooming profusely in the heat, producing sprays of charming pink (sometimes white) flowers. Native to Mexico, it has since spread throughout the tropics and is classified as naturalized in the Philippines.

Its common name comes from the flower buds that do resemble a chain of tiny hearts. Its leaves are also cordate or heart-shaped. These flower clusters are pollinator magnets! Peep the Ancyra Blue (𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘺𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘺𝘳𝘢 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘢) butterfly nectaring on one of the blooms.

We hope these little hearts provide comfort and hope as we anticipate the resurrection. Spend some time in nature today as we contemplate the promise of Easter. 🩷
