Rooted in the Reason: Our Christmas Through Faith, Family, and Gratitude
Jesus, the Belen, and the Jesse Tree have always been part of our Christmas décor. When my kids were younger, decorating for Christmas was something they truly looked forward to—a time filled with crafts, creativity, and little artworks scattered around our home.
Where the Season Begins: Jesus at the Center
We’ve always tried to keep the key elements—those that gently remind us of the reason for the season. I was about to comment when I saw them placing the reindeer around Baby Jesus… but then I paused.
Instead of Santa and the reindeer, it was Jesus and the reindeer. And in that moment, my heart smiled. Jesus should be the focus and the main character of every Christmas decoration. Without saying a word, I knew the significance of Christmas had been quietly planted in their hearts.
An Evergreen Story of Gratitude
Our Christmas tree remains evergreen — the same tree year after year, yet always taking on a new character and theme. Like God’s love, it is everlasting, ever fresh, and always new.
There aren’t many ornaments now, but as Christmas Day draws near, this tree will slowly be filled with written blessings and thanksgiving—each one reflecting what every family member has received and cherished this year.
A Living Belen: God’s Creation in Bloom
The background of this Belen is my own work—and it brings me so much joy. This year, I’ve learned so much through caring for my plants: patience, attentiveness, and the quiet beauty of steady growth. What started as simple tending slowly became something I grew to love, and along the way, I finally discovered my green thumb.
Taking care of my plants keeps me grounded. They gently remind me of God’s creation—how perfectly He designed every living thing, each with its own purpose, rhythm, and place in His plan.
Personal Reflection:
As we have decorated our homes and prepared our hearts, we come to recognize God at work in the quiet moments — in simple choices, small traditions, and shared gratitude.
As we celebrate Christmas tomorrow, we pray for the grace to make space in our hearts and in our lives where Jesus may truly dwell. May we offer our lives to Him with trust, and ask for the graces our hearts long for, according to His loving will.
And tomorrow as we welcome Jesus this Christmas, let us pause and reflect on what do we want to offer Him from our hearts — and what grace are we hoping to receive?
