What is so special about a bonsai tree?

Powderpuff
Flowering Bonsai

Powderpuff is primarily from the Calliandra genus (like Dwarf Powderpuff, Calliandra emarginata), captivates with its fluffy pink or red pom-pom flowers resembling powder puffs. This tropical evergreen suits beginners due to its forgiving growth and vibrant appeal.

Key Characteristics
These shrubs feature fern-like leaves that fold at night, creamy bark, and raspberry-like buds exploding into stamens during bloom seasons (spring-fall). Dwarf varieties stay compact (3-6 ft outdoors), ideal for pots, while standards grow larger with dense, rounded canopies.

Care Essentials
Thrives in warm , humid conditions with bright indirect light or partial sun; protect from cold. Use well-draining medium such as riversand, akadama/pumice/lava mix, water when topsoil dries, and fertilize monthly in growth periods.

Styling Tips
Fast growth responds well to pruning for ramification; pinch tips often and wire young branches. Informal upright or cascade styles highlight flowers; repot every 2-3 years after roots mature.
