Clean, bright, and filled with storage—Catalonia’s kitchen is made for everyday ease. ✨

To create a clear distinction between social and utility zones, we positioned the kitchen away from the main living areas, allowing it to serve as a focused and functional space.

Accessed through an archway by the dining room, the kitchen is a cozy galley lined with built-in cabinetry on both sides. This layout accommodates a full suite of appliances while keeping everything within reach.

On one side, the cabinets integrate the refrigerator, water dispenser, microwave, and cooking area. Around these, we designed a mix of enclosed cubbies and organized drawers, balancing concealment with accessibility.

Opposite the cooking hob, the prep counter and sink sit under a horizontal window that looks out onto the garden. This opening draws in light and air, helping keep the space dry, well-lit, and comfortable throughout the day.

At the end of the room, a tall window and back door lead out to the service deck, where we added a utility kitchen, laundry area, and staff quarters—extending both light and function beyond the kitchen.

In Catalonia House, our first residential development, a thoughtful plan shapes daily life. 🏡

As with all our projects, we began Catalonia House with meticulous planning, ensuring that every square meter works with clarity and purpose.

The entry opens into a generous living and dining area, softly defined by a stairwell tucked discreetly between the two zones.

Along one side, we carved a built-in console directly into the wall—both sculptural and functional—designed to serve as entertainment area, decorative display, and concealed storage in one simple gesture.

Opposite this, we positioned large panels of glazing that faces northeast, drawing in gentle morning light and inviting the brisk Cavite breeze to cool the space naturally.

At the end of the room, a comfortable dining nook anchors the heart of the home and extends seamlessly onto the garden and lanai.

From here, the view reaches out to a pair of mango and avocado trees that frame the outdoors and filter the light—casting shifting shadows that move quietly across the walls as the day grows long.

This year marks five years of AURIS—and a turning point for our studio. Welcome to Catalonia House. ✨

Catalonia House is our first residential development, designed and built by our co-founders, Ar. Russell Javier ( ) and Jody Castillo ( ). For us, it reflects how our work has evolved over time.

Located in South Forbes Villas in Silang, Cavite, just minutes from the Nuvali area, the house sits on an elevated 195 sqm corner lot.

Its position catches the cool winds of Laguna de Bay and allows for two street-facing façades. The result is a timelessly composed exterior—strong yet understated, with presence from every approach.

Our goal in designing this 290 sqm residence was to infuse effortless sophistication into everyday life.

The home has a generous four-bedroom layout, including a ground-floor bedroom. The living and dining spaces face the northeast garden, where gentle sunlight and natural ventilation move through the house throughout the day.

Upstairs, the plan holds a spacious family area and three bedrooms, including the primary suite. This private wing includes a walk-in closet, vanity area, and a balcony overlooking the front garden. Mature fruiting trees provide shade and privacy, creating leafy, treetop views from within.

Architecturally, Catalonia House draws from the village’s modern Mediterranean language, reinterpreted through a restrained palette.

Soft curves, clean lines, and arched openings nod to classical influences while remaining quietly contemporary. Rather than contrast, we applied textures along the same tonal scale—a blend of taupes and limestones expressed through textured plaster, stone tiles, and satin paint.

Quiet, warm, intentional. Catalonia House continues our design philosophy while marking five years of thoughtful practice—and the beginning of something new.

At the heart of Kalsada: a space to gather and celebrate the season’s bounty. ✨

Anchoring ‘s new headquarters is a custom bar and cupping table designed to bring people together.

We kept this hardworking unit simple yet engaging, tiling both the table and bar in the brand’s distinctly vintage green. Depending on the occasion, it transforms seamlessly, serving as a cupping table, a conference area, or a setting for intimate events. Its flexibility reflects the rhythms of coffee itself: shifting from moments of focus to moments of sharing.

Above the table, a custom pendant lamp—made of wood, steel, and polycarbonate—draws from the simple, makeshift structures found throughout Kalsada’s farming communities.

In many ways, this cupping table is a bridge: linking the front of the office to the back, where guests and staff come together—and reaching back to the farms, a reminder that behind every cup is a vast landscape, a valued livelihood, and a shared table.

On the agenda: turning bare concrete into a hardworking headquarters for Kalsada. ✨

For our friends at — producers of Filipino specialty coffee — we designed a new office that balances focus, flexibility, and hospitality within just 26 sqm.

The brief required workstations for three team members, ample storage for documents and coffee gear, and a space to host guests, partners, and stakeholders for meetings or intimate events.

To achieve this, we organized the space into three distinct zones.

At the entry, we created a small reception positioned furthest from the workspaces. A built-in bench offers seating for visitors while concealing storage for merch and supplies. Above, a custom pegboard spans the full frontage, serving as a merch wall, display case, and bulletin for new launches and events.

Opposite this, we designed a built-in work nook crafted from Agusan wood. With integrated cabinets and a cantilevered desk, the unit gives the team a sense of privacy while keeping the space visually open.

Between these zones stands a tiled cupping table and coffee bar — a shared centerpiece that bridges public and private, where work can slow just enough for conversations, tastings, and collaborations. ☕️

Simplicity, community, and crafting the Philippines’ best coffees. This is Kalsada. 🌱

Our latest design and build project is close to our hearts — an office fit-out for our friends at , a specialty coffee producer based in the Philippines.

Located at Karrivin Plaza in Makati, this new headquarters reflects their mission to champion Filipino specialty coffees and bring our homegrown flavors to communities around the world.

A visit to Sitio Belis, one of Kalsada’s earliest farming communities, shaped our first ideas. We were drawn to the modest structures on site: simple timber frames, raw concrete surfaces, and improvised elements built from polycarbonate and steel.

The office takes cues from that simplicity, using humble, farm-found materials elevated through detail and form.

Agusan wood, stained in deep roasted tones, frames the storefront and sets the architectural rhythm. Within this envelope, we introduced stacked glass and concrete blocks — creating privacy, filtering light, and softening the ambient noise from the neighboring restaurants.

Inside the compact 26 sqm footprint, we organized the space into clear zones: a merch wall and receiving area at the entrance, with workspace and storage tucked neatly toward the rear. At the center is a cupping table tiled in Kalsada’s signature green — a functional anchor for the room, serving as both conference table and gathering space, connecting front and back of house.

Above it hangs a custom ceiling lamp made from wood, steel, and polycarbonate — a quiet nod to the farm’s drying beds, where even now new coffees begin their long journey from farm to world.

Deceptively simple, this project is a symphony of carefully composed details. 🎶

From the entryway of this mid-century modern condo, softly curved walls guide you into the living room.

The wall ends in a custom nook for vinyls and a record player — a nod to our clients’ love for music. Clean and effortless, these curves define the movement and create a flow through the space. Next to this nook, we added a mirrored wall to reflect light and expand the room, giving it a brighter and more open feel.

The wooden utility core anchors the living space and doubles as a TV console.

A minimal archway separates the living area from the bedroom hallway, where an interior window frames a view of the kitchen and lets light flow between spaces. Beneath, we designed concealed storage to keep daily clutter out of sight, including a custom cubby for the washing machine.

Simple — yet rich in small, harmonious details that shape daily life.

Once a small bedroom, this dining area is now a light and serene social space. 🥂

When we first inspected our clients’ aging condo unit, we noticed that most of the natural light was hidden away in the bedrooms.

To create the bright and open dining area they envisioned, we removed the room closest to the kitchen and expanded its windows, allowing sunlight to flow into these new communal zones.

What used to be a dim corner is now the brightest part of the home — a calm and airy space that enjoys wide city views.

Like the rest of the redesigned unit, the dining area revolves around the central utility block: a sculptural core made entirely of curved wood. In contrast, we kept the dining space simple and understated, creating a visual pause from the dominant timber forms and textures of the core.

A round wooden table, paired with a colorful pendant, nods to the home’s midcentury inspiration. Behind it, a cabinet and shelf finished in alabaster white add subtle storage and a place to display art.

From here, the kitchen and living room remain within easy reach. Open, connected, and comfortably planned.

At the heart of this midcentury transformation is a curved, sculptural core. ✨  Our latest project — Bungalow on the 8th — is a top-to-bottom condo renovation inspired by midcentury modern design.   To meet our clients’ needs within a small footprint, we took an unconventional approach, designing the new floor plan around a multi-functional, custom-built utility core.   On one side, this curved wooden form serves as the living room console and display. In the kitchen, it flows into the cooking hob, pantry, and appliance cubby, creating both separation and continuity within the plan.   The space is finished in a palette of white quartz, warm timber, and brass. Restrained yet refined, these materials help to ground the design, making this unusual kitchen feel simple and practical.   Once dim and enclosed, the space now anchors daily life — bright, open, and shaped by carefully considered craft.

A mid-century pad for a swell young couple — welcome to Bungalow on the 8th. ✨

Once a dim and aging top-floor unit, this penthouse project is one of our most dramatic transformations yet.

When we first met our clients, a young married couple based in Quezon City, it was clear they were looking for a space that reflected their warm and creative personalities. Their one specific request: to make their flat feel more like a mid-century modern house than a typical condo unit.

We drew inspiration from the quintessential mid-century home — the bungalow.

Iconic of the era, the bungalow was casual, open, and closely connected to its surroundings. Yet unlike today’s open-plan condos, bungalows often revealed themselves gradually, one room leading gently to the next, creating a sense of intimacy within openness.

Guided by this idea, we designed a sculptural core — curved and crafted in wood — that anchors the center of the space.

On one side, it serves as a TV console and display shelf in the living room; on the other, it forms the cooking area and kitchen cabinetry. Around this central core flows the rest of the home, including a cozy dining area and a new hallway that leads to the two bedrooms.

Despite its unconventional planning, the finishes remain simple and straightforward: light neutral walls, warm timber tones, and accents of ruby red and smoky jade — a joyful nod to the optimism of mid-century design.
