You know there’s a wedding in the house before anyone tells you.

There’s mithai on the table. Chai being made again. Relatives arriving with suitcases, cousins taking over rooms, and a doorbell that barely gets a break.

Because a South Asian wedding begins long before the wedding day.

It begins at home.

In the weeks leading up to it, the house seems to have a life of its own. People come and go, chai keeps brewing, and somehow, something is always being served.

And no matter how much you’ve already eaten, there is always the insistence of “kuch aur lijiye.”

Perhaps that is our love language.

This wedding season, we’ve been collecting special pieces for these very homes, for the mithai, the dry fruits, the chai accompaniments, and everything else that finds its way onto the table.

Everyone has one thing they refuse to rush. The biryani you still make your nani’s way. The gift you spend weeks choosing. The letter you write by hand when a text would do.

Mine is brass. The short version is “I started a brass brand”. This is the long one.

Made by people whose hands I know, in workshops I’ve sat in. Every slide here was the slower choice, and the slower choice is how things end up being handed down.

Food deserves a proper arrival.

That walk from the kitchen. The way people look up. When I designed this platter, I was thinking about that exact moment, the table as a stage, and this platter in the spotlight. The centre is hand-hammered, with hand-engraved rims with stunning floral detailing. The feet lift it just enough to say this is special!

The meal ends. The platter remains.
