Turath - تراث Turath or heritage in Arabic is an ethical trading initiative to promote and support grassroots hand Turath supports the Beit Jibreen Women Work Project.

Turath (heritage) is Palestinian ethical trading initiative with an aim to promote economic empowerment and support the resilience of Palestinian refugee women through sharing their stories and marketing their traditional handicrafts. An economic empowerment project established in 2003 in Beit Jibrin Refugee Camp, Palestine. Embroidery is the women’s principal handicraft and they design, develop a

nd produce their own embroidered items using traditional Palestinian designs and colour combinations. The economic situation in the West Bank deteriorated drastically with the construction of the Wall which resulted in high unemployment leading to increased hardship. The project provides work to around 40 women many of whom are now the principal breadwinners in their family. The members of the project take pride in the quality and individuality of their products and enjoy developing new designs for the Japanese and UK market.
