My 5C rule for styling any coffee table 🍸

I developed this capsule back when I was working as an interior stylist for editorial, but then optimized it for real interiors. Because a house styled for a photo shoot is a completely different thing from a house for everyday living (seriously, who keeps giant bowls of limes on the table?)

So basic 5C:

Candle
For mood, for scent and for ambience

Candle snuffer
Something I find incredibly chic. Even if the candle has burned out, its sculptural form sets the mood “I’m not like other girls who blow out a candle as if it were a birthday cake”💅

Coasters
Soft (made of fabric, leather, rattan) for wooden and stone tables. Stone or metal ones for soft poufs, so your glass of Vinho Verde stays stable all year round 🍸

Ceramics
A bowl, a small vase or an ashtray. Besides creating a sculptural form, such items are great for storing little annoying things you don’t know where to put and for bringing a bit of order to the chaos of life

Coffee table books
Well, the name itself says it shouldn’t be Dostoevsky, but rather something large enough to add extra layer, use it like a tray, add pop of color, and an elegant hint that people in this house read (even if no one actually reads coffee table books)

Mirror is always a good idea 🍸
if you’re ready to see something nice twice

I like mirrors most when they aren’t trying too hard to behave like mirrors. Not the obvious one above the console or the polite oval in the hallway

I love them where they feel a little unexpected and unnecessary. A mirrored plinth under a wooden cabinet. A thin strip of reflection inside a window reveal. Surfaces that catch the light before you even notice they’re there

Or an unreasonably giant round mirror in a narrow corridor. We usually rush past these walls. They’re not meant for art collections or long pauses. But they’re perfect mirror material

Bathroom splashbacks. Fireplaces. The backs of shelving units. Third “window” in the gap between two windows

Sometimes the most overlooked corner just needs a little drama. And the quietest wall just needs something worth reflecting

White is such a diva 🍸 It looks effortless, yet in interiors it’s one of the most complex decisions I have to make

because in real life white is never “just.white”

The secret lies in studying the space first, before committing to “that exact” white 🤍

Manifesting for 2026:
thoughtful projects, kind people & beautiful collaborations. And for cups in cupboards that all feel like favorites. Saving this here 🍸

Beige, white and a lot of trust🍸

This Cascais villa was designed and styled 100% remotely

And working with these tones is always a delicate balance. It came together through countless fabric samples, color tests, and online approvals.

Designing from a distance demands precision and a clear vision, but when everything finally aligns, it feels like magic 💫
