“My personal style is to mix fun with glamour. I create elegant rooms made for living. To infuse a home with style, and the spirit of its residents. It’s about giving the clients structure, making sure it functions for them, while leaving it open for them to put their own mark on – a reflection of their lives”.

Catch ups with this beautiful Lady and artist fuel my heart. We’ve been friends for decades. What a beautiful blessing to have a friend who knew you, in some ways before you even knew yourself. Who knew you in your dream state, wondering who you’d become? Or what you would do? This one is extra special! From our Art & Design High school days spending hours in museums, studying all genres and artists (living and those gone). We shared, like many an immersive learning experience which continues as long as we are still here. With ALL her successes, I have heralded and delighted in each and every one. Here’s to more Great good, Great conversations that pick up where left off and still being crazy kids who continue to dream. 💋

Life is so very strange. Two nights ago I had trouble sleeping. I sat up with many thoughts crossing my mind. One very thought was of and Barbara W. a client of his who I continued to do calligraphy for because she loved my penmanship.

I thought about how laughter was such an integral part of the design experience in the Studio. How much he hated my favorite sunflower yellow shirt. How he’d exclaim it “burned his corneas” (always uber dramatic). I so enjoyed sketching beside him. With absolute delight in how quickly he drew a scaled perspective, all while expounding the virtures of 18th. century grape cutters. Two plus years of fun times.

And yesterday, I learn of his passing. John knew many people, had alot of friends. I would be selfish to think he came to say goodbye, in my thoughts of him during the night, in my sleeplessness.

Such an amazing talent. I was lucky to attend some AMAZING dinner parties at his Round Hill home in Connecticut and at his apartment in the city. It is where I first saw the coffee plaster walls up close, that he loved to feature his projects. And learned to love and respect a deeply feminine pale palette.

John was so funny, hated my yellow shirt and left lasting good memories. The design community is richer for his contributions. Surely, his soul is resting swathed in the finest velvet evening jacket and silk ascot. With the very best elixir in one hand, a pen in another. With circling sounds of his laughter.

Even through the thickest of times in my career, I look back with such GRATITUDE for the experiences learned, and people I have shared them with. RIP to those who are no longer here but the sounds of their laughter shall always remain. RIP John Saladino, keep laughing and alas learn to love sunflower yellow 🌻 ♥️

I am utterly thrilled to alas have in hand this beautiful book, that has utterly taken me on a world trip. ‘The Grand Tourist’, written by - the print form of his wonderful and insightful podcast A full 364 pages of exploration, interesting profiles, travel, fashion, architecture and more. Volume One, of what I predict will be many. It is more than a vanity coffee table book, “it’s put your feet up and take a trip with me”. So if international travel isn’t on your agenda this summer, The Grand Tourist might get you through to Autumn.

Still enamored with the vibrant pattern play of this Hudson chair, positioned on this Native American inspired rug pattern. My client loves taking the scenery in at the start of his day. I am more than willing to claim this scene, should he ever grow wary of it. You know this girl loves some red! What say you?
