A curve drawn in a plan can become a line of light in the finished space.

Bendable LED profiles let you follow the edge of a ceiling, the contour of a niche or the curve of bespoke furniture. Light can emphasise the geometry or become a detail of its own.

The profile is part of that design decision. Choose it with the intended curve and bending direction in mind, so the detail you draw is the one you can build.

A perfectly aligned track can still put the light in the wrong place.

The decisions happen below it: an artwork on the wall, a route through the room, the view from an armchair. These determine where each fixture belongs and where its light should land.

IVY lets you direct an accent. THOR 01 spreads light more broadly. LUV 01 keeps it more concentrated beneath the track. Two linear forms can produce very different results.

Combining them starts with deciding what deserves attention, what needs general illumination and where less light is enough.

În septembrie, Designer of the Month îi aduce în prim-plan pe cei de la Arhitectonic Design Studio.

Pentru echipă, lumina își are locul în proiect încă de la primele schițe. Este gândită împreună cu proporțiile, materialele și felul în care oamenii vor folosi spațiul.

Această atenție ne apropie în proiectele la care lucrăm împreună. Pornim de la viziunea lor și căutăm soluțiile de iluminat care o susțin, cu grijă pentru detaliile care se vor vedea și simți în amenajare.

Pe 22 octombrie ne întâlnim în showroomul Lyset la prima ediție „Mai mult decât design”, noua serie de întâlniri Lighting Academy.

Ana Mihail, de la Ann Design Studio, și Sergiu Califar, de la Pure Mess, povestesc despre marketing din experiența propriilor studiouri. Ce au încercat, ce a funcționat și ce ar face diferit. Pornim din Cluj și București, dar discuția merge și dincolo de cele două orașe.

Continuăm cu o oră despre iluminat alături de Ruxandra Miftodi, lighting designer la Glow Design Studio. Vino cu întrebări pentru ca toate discurile vor pleca de la întrebările voastre!

Lăsăm timp și să ne cunoaștem, să schimbăm idei și să mai stăm de vorbă.

A few moments from our Smart Control workshop, together with Rotter | Clădiri smart cu sens. Pentru Oameni. and Ruxandra Miftodi lighting designer at Glow Lighting Design Studio .

We met at the Lyset showroom to talk about lighting controls, compare the options and look at how they fit into a project. There was time to look through lighting plans, get hands-on with the products and chat along the way.

A beam you can shape.

When the light follows the edges of an artwork, the piece can appear backlit. It seems to glow against the darker wall, even though it is illuminated from the front.

Arh lets you create this effect by adjusting both the beam angle and its outline. You can widen or narrow the spread, then frame the light to fit the proportions of the work. This keeps the illumination close to its edges and limits spill onto the surrounding surface.

The position of the fixture matters too. On a relief, the direction of the light affects the shadows cast by raised elements, revealing texture and depth.
Here, the two pieces stand out against the dark wall, almost as if they had their own light source.

Look closer, and the shadows reveal how the light falls across their surfaces.

The LED generates light. The optics shape how it reaches a space.

A lens guides light through its geometry and surface structure. It helps determine the beam angle, the distribution of intensity and the transition from the centre of the beam to its edges.

A narrow beam can highlight an object or an architectural detail. A wider beam covers a larger area. Yet two optics with the same nominal beam angle can create different results. The centre may be more concentrated, the distribution more even, or the edges softer.

At Lyset, we pay close attention to these details. The lens, its position within the fixture and the surrounding geometry all matter. Together, they influence how light falls on a surface and how much of the bright source is visible from different viewing angles.

For us, choosing the optics is part of designing the light. It means considering the materials, proportions and viewing positions in the spaces where our fixtures will be used.

Episode 2 of Lighting Insight.

More spotlights don’t automatically mean better lighting.

What really matters is the beam angle, lumen output, CRI, colour temperature and, most importantly, how each fixture is used in the project.

Sometimes we recommend adding a spotlight. Other times, removing one.

Because good lighting is not about quantity. It’s about using the right light, in the right place.

Continuăm seria Designer of the Month cu Ana Mihail, fondatoarea Ann Design Studio, un colaborator foarte drag nouă, alături de Lyset de mult timp.

Cu Ana am împărtășit mereu aceeași idee: iluminatul trebuie gândit de la început, ca parte din proiect, nu ales la final.

Am vorbit despre cm vede ea lumina în amenajările rezidențiale, despre greșelile pe care le întâlnește cel mai des și despre cât de mult poate schimba iluminatul rezultatul unui proiect.
