Our first igloo magazine cover is fresh off the press, and it brings back so many great memories of Bold Blue, the office interior that struck just the right balance between the client’s Scandinavian roots and our own language of sleek, contemporary shapes and bold colors.

The cover features an image we haven’t shared before, showing our custom-designed tables for the workshops area, made to work as individual pieces for smaller groups or come together as one long communal table.

As for the whole story, I won’t spoil it here. You’ll have to grab your own copy and discover it.

Our first igloo magazine cover is fresh off the press, and it brings back so many great memories of Bold Blue, the project that struck just the right balance between the client’s Scandinavian roots and our own language of sleek, contemporary shapes and bold colors.

Turns out, putting three architects and a furniture supplier at the same table creates a pretty good conversation.

This weekend I had the chance to take part in a panel about the HoReCa industry in front of the BIFE-SIM x ARDI crowd, alongside Mihai Popescu, Anca Dumitrescu and Zsolt Wegreszota, exchanging perspectives on this ever-evolving industry, with some very on-point questions by Iuliana Damir.

At 13.9 meters, this is our longest bar design yet. Stitches everywhere.

We wanted to sew into metal, and so we did. Galvanized steel & delicate red thread in a primal visual dialogue that subtly integrates the brand’s logo (wink, wink).

Surrounding it all, glossy red curtains and deep red lighting set a distinctly edgy mood.

Time is never promised. Now I know it more than ever.

We all know it in theory. But I don’t think we ever fully understand it until we do.

And so, for me, the name of the venue I was about to design became a reminder of our fragile, beautiful life. It also came with a challenge, I have to admit. The entire design and implementation of the terrace was completed in no more than 3 weeks. A slightly crazy timeline, but who would say no to intervening in such an iconic location, the former Cina Restaurant, a historic building in the heart of Bucharest dating back to the 1870s?

My idea was to introduce materials you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find in a venue like this. (Time) constraints have always been one of those things that somehow push me towards new solutions. From raw, hard metal to the thread used to sew the bar, to glossy, sexy curtains, every element was part of an intense process of material research, experimentation and countless sketches. The result is a very particular atmosphere. One that feels slightly unexpected, a little theatrical, and hopefully makes you forget about everything else for a while and just be.

From performances by some of the most well-known DJs to nights with Taraf de Caliu, tomorrow is not promised unites us all through music & hot design, and I just can’t get enough of seeing people celebrate life around it.

Sometimes you just need calm, reflective surfaces + an iconic ’60s piece taking the stage.

The Pipistrello lamp (italian for “bat”), evokes the wings of light opening above its extendable metal body. Designed by G*e Aulenti for Olivetti’s Paris store in the late 1960s, it truly deserves that soo overused word: timeless.

And then, unexpectedly, Jean Prouvé’s S.A.M. Bois table, designed in 1941 appears too.

Okay, so I guess I’ll keep designing contemporary furniture that sits seamlessly alongside iconic vintage pieces for as long as I live.

Yes, you are still in the heart of the city, yet once you sit down, the smell of the surrounding aromatic plants immerses you into the familiar atmosphere of a garden and instantly activates that vacation state of mind.

Designing the rooftop of one of our favorite restaurants came with a special feeling.

The concept revealed itself naturally once we drew the 3D layout: a symmetrical terrace with all the seating arranged in a U-shape, leaving an airy central space that allows the hosts to move freely.

The complementary relationship between nature’s greens and our monochromatic red approach is, of course, purely intentional. Rather than overwhelming the space with an excessive list of finishes and textures, the design places the focus on the food & the experience.

Your nervous system is simply happy, for no (apparent) reason.
