Выставка о постсоветской повседневности, памяти о насилии и образах, которые продолжают жить, даже когда сам опыт остался в прошлом.

«Отпуск» обращается к теме без ностальгии и романтизации. В экспозиции собраны живопись, графика, объекты и инсталляции, исследующие темную изнанку привычной городской среды.
В названии заложены два значения: отпуск как временный побег от системы и «отпустить» — как попытка справиться с коллективной травмой и страхом перед окраиной через художественный жест.

I’m interested in where genuine intimacy begins in contemporary art.

Behind me, you can see my work Garden of Memory. Here, I work with found photographs collected from flea markets, combining them with flowers from my own garden. I’m interested in how someone else’s memory can suddenly become intimate, how the text and image of a person we have never known can find a place within our own memory.

Мне интересно, где в современном искусстве начинается настоящая близость. За моей спиной мы видим мою работу «Сад памяти».

Здесь я работаю с найденными фотографиями с блошиных рынков соединяя их с цветами из своего сада.

Мне интересно, как чужая память вдруг становится близкой. Как текст и изображение человека, которого мы никогда не знали, может занять место внутри нашей собственной памяти.

Dreams Were Taken From My Car

The car glided over the wet surface, almost silently. In the rear-view mirror, the Gulf of Finland appeared. Everything was dark grey: the sky, the water, the wet asphalt, the distant silhouettes of trees.

The road slowly narrowed and seemed to lead straight into the sea. It was impossible to tell whether the car was still driving or had already begun to float. The wheels could no longer feel the road.

The window opened. Cold, damp air filled the cabin, carrying the smell of silt, seaweed and distant rain. Tiny drops gathered on the glass.

There was nothing ahead. Only a grey expanse where the next shore was supposed to be.

But was there a shore at all?
