I haven't been posting here in some time, and in case anyone have wondered, it's not because I've been idle. Quite the opposite, a lot of work combined with some personal events that have left new hanging by a thread. But I'm still here! 😅
And it's finally time for some well earnt change of air. Next week I'm realizing a life long dream, going to India too visit a fellow artist friend Rajesh Soni, getting some inspiration and learning from traditional art techniques from another party of the world. 🤩 The beautiful city of Udaipur is known for its rich history, amazing architecture and skilled artisans and I'm planning to spend my days trying out different traditional techniques, meeting with fellow creatives and doing live drawings/paintings of the surroundings.
No I'm not switching from European medieval style to eastern classical art, (I leave that to the Indians, who have hade enough of their culture being stolen from them) but that's the beauty of true creative exchange- you never know what element or technique you can pick up and inspire you in a new and unique way, when you study and learn respectfully. Maybe just the beautiful historical atmosphere and the company of artist collegues will get the creative juices flowing. If I know myself, I will find the seed to a million ideas and develop as an artist in new unexpected ways.
At least I can't wait to get away and just emerge myself in art for a while. All though it's going to be more of a business trip than a vacation, I'm sure it's just what I need after a hectic spring/summer. Can't wait!
Until then, here's a picture of one of the things that have kept me busy lately, these new keyrings I made for Medeltidsveckan på Gotland , who have the theme "love" this year.
