It was never “just a children’s story”
George Lucas studied centuries worth of anthropology just so that Star Wars made sense.
(The same way I studied Norse Mythology for that Viking Family Portrait I painted)
In taking the time to engross yourself in the movies, TV series, and books, you are learning not only about others, but you are learning about yourself too.
You are learning your place in the galaxy. You are also learning your place in the galaxy can change.
It teaches how to navigate life and how to cope with the things we can’t control, much like religion does.
It is one of the truest reflections of human nature. That’s why you feel like you belong— because you do.
Why else do you think it’s so relatable across distance and time?
I will probably paint Star Wars for the rest of my life, regardless of if I’m commissioned to do so.
