Mischievous and probably poisonous🪸🐠
I call her the Sirenarium Hippurus as she is the spitting image of a golden mackerel. As a coast-girlie from Swedish county, mackerel will always have a special place in my heart, and up until now I never knew that there was a golden one✨ They’re not related, but the idea makes me happy.

The intuitive process of sculpting clay. It’s the most rewarding part of this journey of exploring ornamentation in various forms, to rediscover techniques and how they can be a part of the design process. More advanced hand drawing is one, sculpting is another.

Wood might make you think of straight planks, square or rectangular. For me, I love the softness of wood, its warmth, how the fibers flex and its unique fingerprint through the grains pattern. Turn wood and unexpected patterns will appear. Bend it and it will try to bend back, creating the most beautiful tensioned curves. Shine a light through it and it will turn up the heat in the room.
Its more reminiscent to the tree, how it grows organically and how the sunlight shines through the leaves than straight planks.

Does your tools when designing affect the final design?

Allowing myself to explore more complex and sculptural ornamentation has brought me back to my drawing. For many years I’ve sketching in a ”design way” and lost that original way of drawing with graphite pen that I’ve spent so many hours doing growing up and always loved.

But I do think this way of drawing also alter my expression, becoming even more ”me” as the technique sits very well with my form language and its pace. Its softness and deep black contrasts, its initial quickness and yet slow calm.

Do you think your design tools affect your process?
