Dear fans of swedish handicraft! Smörgåsbord is under a restart and soon our Etsy shop will be running again as it did before the pandemic paus. New pieces of delicately handmade historic textiles are on their way in!

I want to take the opportunity to ask you what you want to see more of in our shop. Textiles with swedish embroidiered texts, for a daily language lesson? Truly antique pieces? Useful everyday objects? Wall hangings with symbols from the region of your ancestors? Large pieces of table wear? Artifacts in season? Please let me know and i will do my best to meet your needs!

Hope you all had a lovely midsummer! 🌹
This tradition of celebrating the peak of both light and bloom has roots in christian as well as pagan times. Today midsummers eve is the friday that comes closest to the nordic summer solstice. This is a period in the summer where the sun litterally never sets in the most northern regions, closest to the arctic circle. No wonder it has always been a mythical time that people have wanted to celebrate!
