How do you translate a Venetian memory into a new form of light?
For the Gio Floor Lamp, designed for &TRADITION, we reworked the features of the original pendant around a new typology, exploring how its layered geometry could become structure.

A cone defines the form, while materials shift from Murano glass to spun metal, grounded by the weight of Emperador marble. Different techniques and material cultures come together in an object shaped by reflection and proportion.

For NICHETTO®, Gio is a study in how memory and craftsmanship can be reinterpreted rather than reproduced, carrying elements of Venetian and Italian design into a contemporary language.

As part of the artistic direction for Barovier&Toso, NICHETTO® brought together a curated group of international designers to contribute to 2026 Chapter 1.

In Conversation With looks at the connections behind each collaboration and the different perspectives these designers bring to Murano glass, exploring new possibilities while preserving its heritage.

Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects combines an architectural mindset able to move naturally between space and object with a Scandinavian perspective on glass that creates an unexpected dialogue with Murano tradition. Rooted in a long-standing friendship with Luca Nichetto, the collaboration grew from a shared way of thinking into a new encounter with Barovier&Toso.

Design and play, together the way we like it.
AL13 by NICHETTO® for RS Barcelona turns the billiard table into a space for interaction, open to use, movement, and interpretation.

An uninterrupted sculptural shell of flowing curves embraces the playing surface, while a soft leather pad traces its edge. Here, billiards transcend the game, and every movement becomes a ritual.

Form begins with reduction. With AL13, the billiard table we designed for RS Barcelona, we explored how structure, material, and process could be reduced to their essential expression.

Cast aluminium, extruded profiles, and leather come together in a continuous volume where precision meets softness, sculpture becomes function, and synthesis shapes every gesture.

As Art Director for Barovier&Toso, NICHETTO® invited a selected group of international designers to shape 2026 Chapter 1.

In Conversation With tells the stories behind these collaborations and the unique perspectives each designer brings to Murano glass, balancing innovation with heritage.

Emmanuel Babled brings a rare combination of an international design perspective and a profound knowledge of Murano glass. Built on a shared respect for the material and its history, this collaboration explores how innovation can emerge by looking deeper into tradition, rather than leaving it behind.

The programme is open internationally to product designers aged 21–30, whether early in their journey or already running an established practice.

In Conversation With is a series exploring the relationships behind these collaborations and what each invited designer brings to the dialogue, contributing a new perspective to the future of Murano glass while respecting its heritage.

The sensitivity for craftsmanship and ability to connect different cultural traditions made Studio Lani a natural choice. Built on openness and mutual curiosity, our collaboration became a dialogue between Nigerian and Italian heritage through design.

Participants will be based at Casa Flora, in the heart of Venice, a private bedroom with en-suite bathroom, alongside shared living and working spaces for the full ten days.
The residency includes mentorship sessions, basic production materials, visits to Venetian artisan workshops, and culminates in a final public exhibition.
