The kitchen was the start. The rest of the home followed.

For this apartment we also made the living room sideboard: a long curved cabinet in pale oak with a stone top, doors that follow the radius, and a bullnose plinth that lifts it off the floor. Under the bay window in the study, a low oak cabinet with a stone sill. The same oak, the same stone, the same beading, room after room.

This is the whole project, from the first sketch to the last door. If you want a kitchen that carries through the entire home, our studio is on Humlegårdsgatan in Stockholm. Book a visit through the link in our bio.

The quiet side of the kitchen.

Behind the curves and the green bench is the wall that does the work: the sink, the oven, the tall pantry tucked under the sloping roof. Framed oak doors, a stone splashback in one piece, drainer grooves cut straight into the worktop, and a line of light under the wall cabinets that comes on in the evening.

Slim recessed pulls, nothing that catches the eye. Appliances integrated behind oak. The tall pantry is built into the slope of the roof, because we measured that roof, not a drawing of it.

Made to measure, made in Stockholm. Kitchens by Paul.

Un salon à Paris.

Third floor, a Haussmann building, a drawing room that had spent a century being formal. The client asked for something they could actually sit in.

We left the architecture alone. The coffered ceiling, the acanthus frieze, the tall panelled walls were already doing their job. Underneath, we brought the room down to the colour of skin and stone: plaster in unbleached linen, a long sofa in café au lait velvet, two armchairs in a blush that reads apricot by four in the afternoon. Travertine for the table, walnut for the sideboard, bronze for the little things. The fireplace is the exception, a breccia marble in oxblood and green that we found before anything else in the room and refused to give up.

The rug has a single dark line drawn around the seating. That was the last decision and possibly the best one.

1 October has always meant something special to me.

Today is my mother’s birthday.

She raised me as a single mother and did everything she could to give me the opportunity to study, grow, and build a future for myself. Much of the discipline, ambition and determination I carry with me today comes from watching her work hard and never give up on me.

And, by coincidence or perhaps something more, on this exact day in 2018 I started Kitchens by Paul.

I had moved to Sweden as an immigrant, to a country that was completely new to me, carrying a dream of building something of my own. I didn’t know exactly where that journey would take me. I just knew that I wanted to create something I could be proud of.

Eight years later, Sweden is my home, and that dream has grown into a company, a team and a body of work that means more to me than I can put into words.

There is still so much I want to build, learn and achieve. But today, I just want to stop for a moment and remember where it all began and the person who gave me the foundation to believe that I could build a life of my own.

Happy birthday, Mum. ❤️

And happy 8 years to Kitchens by Paul | Kitchens.se and our incredible team that believe in our journey since day 1.

Grateful for everything that brought me here.

One workshop, from the kitchen to the bathroom.

The same hands that built the kitchen built this bathroom. A floating vanity in pale oak with rounded corners and a solid stone top, twin basins, twin taps, and a mirror cabinet framed in oak that reflects the arched window behind you. A bath clad in the same stone as the worktops, with a view over the rooftops of Stockholm.

One material palette, room after room.

Les détails.

You arrive through a pair of pocket doors, fluted glass in a thin bronze frame, and the room is already composed before you step in.

Then the small things take over. A chandelier with brass stems that arc like fishing rods, each one ending in a frosted glass bell. Wall lights stripped back to one bare bulb on a brass rod. A walnut sideboard with pyramid-cut doors that change tone as you walk past. A coffee table in raw travertine, the holes left open, standing on four drum legs and carrying nothing more than two candlesticks and a book. A twisted bronze guéridon between the armchairs, the kind of piece you put there for the shadow it makes.

If we had to write the palette down: bisque, biscuit, caramel, smoke, one flash of verdigris in the rug. And a parquet the colour of strong coffee to hold it all down.

Anyone can draw a curve. Building one in oak and glass is another story.

The wall cabinets in this kitchen end in a bowed glass door, so the row turns the corner instead of stopping at it. The peninsula ends in a curved door that opens onto curved shelves. The stone top follows the same radius, polished to a soft round where the oak turns.

Inside, drawers sit within drawers. The frames are oak with a fine beading, the grain runs true across every front, and the light under the cabinets runs the full length with no visible fitting.

We build these curves in our own workshop, one piece at a time. Which detail would you have in your kitchen: the bowed glass, the curved door, or the hidden drawer? Comment below ⬇️

A breakfast nook that follows the window.

Under the sloping roof of a Stockholm attic apartment we built a curved bench in pale oak and moss green wool, shaped to the bay so not a centimetre of the view is wasted. Behind it, the same oak runs across the kitchen: framed doors with a fine beading, curved glass cabinets, a stone splashback that catches the morning light.
