🚚 HOW DO ALL THESE MATERIALS GET TO YOUR UNIT?
Ever wondered how all bags of cement, tiles and other materials reach your home?
Unfortunately… they don’t know how to take the lift themselves. 😂
My hacker’s job is usually to deliver the materials to the designated unloading point. From there, someone still needs to move everything from Point A → your doorstep.
And this is where additional costs can sometimes come in.
🏢 HDB
If the block has direct lift access and the lorry can unload nearby — great! 👍
But if there’s no lift landing on your floor, no nearby loading point, or the workers have to carry the materials a longer distance…
That means more manpower, more trips and possibly carrying everything up the stairs. 💪😅
🏙️ CONDO
This one can be even more interesting. 😂
Suppliers may only be allowed to unload at a designated area or outside the development. From there, materials may need to be transferred using trolleys, smaller vehicles or additional manpower before they finally reach your unit.
400 bags suddenly becomes…
“Boss… still got how many bags ah?” 😂
🏠 LANDED PROPERTY
The lorry may reach your house, but your renovation area might be on the 2nd or 3rd storey.
Sadly, cement bags still haven’t learnt how to climb stairs. 😂
Every bag, tile and material has to be carried up manually.
So is this a “hidden cost”?
Not necessarily.
Most quotations are based on normal and reasonably accessible site conditions. If the actual site requires additional manpower, transportation, trolley trips, stair carrying or longer carrying distances, additional handling charges may apply.
That’s why at Simplicity Interior, we prefer to highlight these possibilities early.
Because we’d rather explain why a cost may happen than surprise you with:
“Eh… why suddenly got extra charge?” 😳
Good renovation planning isn’t just about choosing nice tiles and carpentry.
It’s also about understanding how everything actually gets to your home. 😉
