Alghero, on Sardinia's northwest coast, terracotta rooftops, sharp Mediterranean light, kitchens that earn their keep ☕

Villa Emmeline is a 23m² kitchen designed by Aisyah Radhiah for a holiday rental on the island. The palette pulls from the island vernacular: white shaker cabinetry, brass detailing, a black stone counter for grounding, reeded glass that filters the Sardinian light, and exposed beams left in their original character.

Then the surprise: a bifold cabinet that conceals an entire breakfast nook, lined in warm oak and lit from within. Closed, it disappears. Open, it's the warmest corner in the room.

Year 1 of interior design practice is mostly absorbing things no you did not learn at school. This is the kind of thing TLDP Juniors work through with Mentors every project, partly so when it hits, it lands a little softer.

What working with TLDP can look like as a Junior:
→ Claudia designs the bedrooms. client loves them.
→ Scope extends to the corridors.
→ One of our other Juniors takes it from sketch to the first submission without a single round of revisions.

Junior designers deserve real scope, real client exposure, and real portfolio wins. If you know you deserve this, apply in the 🔗 link in our bio for studio experience that actually counts.

Project briefs at TLDP look a lot like the ones you've been doing in school 🤝
Same structure. Same skills. Just a real client, a real space, and a real budget on the other side.

If you've put together a school project brief, you've already done most of this.

your CV shouldn't sound like everyone else's ChatGPT prompt. 👀

a recruiter can tell. a hiring manager can tell. and it's costing graduates their shot.
swipe to hear exactly why authenticity is still the thing that gets you hired, straight from someone who's been on both sides of the table.

Hear it from Geeta on how your cover letter may be more important than your CV & portfolio.

This clip from our podcast Design After Class, we talk about why cover letters still matter, what they actually do, and how junior designers can use them to make their application feel more thoughtful, intentional, and worth opening.

If you’ve ever thought “does anyone read cover letters anymore?” This one’s for you.

Great hospitality starts with spaces that feel considered, welcoming and connected to their surroundings.

A key part of Claudia Ambrosi's concept for Hôtel Rohan Strasbourg is the use of patterned fabric walls, surfaces that draw on Alsatian ornamental motifs and the region's tradition of finely crafted textiles. It is a way of grounding the design in local heritage without replicating it, letting material and pattern carry the sense of place. From more timeless, heritage-inspired rooms to richer, more contemporary expressions, the result is a guest experience that feels both authentic and modern.

True story: a hotel's busiest entrance had a broken tile and a confusing queue setup… until a customer posted about it online. In August. At the height of summer 😬

Don't let that be you.

Take 20 minutes THIS WEEK to walk your space. Check for wear and tear, awkward traffic flow, and anything that'll frustrate a guest at peak capacity.

Small fixes now = fewer headaches (and bad reviews) later 👏

A room can look beautiful and still not feel like anything. The difference is almost always in the details you can touch.

Fabric and texture are the elements that make a space feel lived-in, layered, and truly yours. The weight of a curtain. The weave of a rug. The way a throw drapes over a sofa. Even the contrast between a smooth marble surface and a chunky knit pillow. These are the choices that quietly shape how a room feels to be in, and they're more accessible than most people think.

In our latest blog, we walk you through how to use these elements with intention. From choosing the right materials and balancing soft and hard surfaces, to layering textures in a way that feels cohesive and personal.

Here's everything you need to make your home feel as good as it looks: https://thelivedesignproject.com/how-to-use-fabric-and-texture-to-define-a-room/?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=march+2026&utm_content=blog_push
