The entrance, kitchen and dining area all sit within one open space, so the separation comes from the details instead.

A change in floor tiles marks the entrance, the kitchen gets its own tiled backdrop, and timber runs between them.

Different spaces, without needing walls between each one.

The vanity is made almost entirely from tiles. Green tiles form the counter, while smaller terracotta tiles line the basin within it.

Framed by the curved timber cabinets on both sides, something usually quite ordinary becomes one of the more playful moments in the home.

From the dining table, you can still see the entrance, kitchen and glimpses of the study beyond.

The curved glass block wall gives each space some separation without completely dividing them. Even when everyone is doing something different, the home still feels connected.

A home shaped around the ordinary parts of living. A place for books, for gathering, for clothes waiting to be worn again, and for the things that usually end up without a place. Nothing here is about doing more for the sake of it. Just paying a little more attention to how life actually happens.

Not everything goes straight back into the wardrobe or into the wash. A hanging rail keeps clothes aside for another wear, while a compartment below keeps the laundry out of sight. Nearby, a small desk is tucked into the wardrobe, bringing a few everyday routines together in the same space.

Books are a big part of this home, while the television doesn't always need to take centre stage. Sliding panels allow the wall to change depending on what is being used, revealing the library or tucking it away when needed.

The vanity was brought outside the common bathroom, freeing up the space within while making it easier to use when the bathroom is occupied. Mosaic tiles wrap this little area from wall to ceiling, with the stone bringing its own movement and colour into the mix.

The homeowners have collected plenty of books, objects and furniture over time. Different chairs gather around the same table, with the library running behind. Nothing needed to match. There just needed to be enough room for the things they already love, and whatever comes next.

The kitchen sits right by the entrance, so a small foyer creates some distance between the two. Blue mosaic marks the way in and wraps around the corner, before giving way to the patterned floor inside. A translucent screen keeps the kitchen from being completely in view from the door.

The dry pantry sits just outside the kitchen, closer to the living and dining spaces where the family spends most of their time. Drinks, snacks and the things reached for throughout the day are kept here, leaving the kitchen behind for cooking and the messier bits.
