“In Singapore, we tend to play it safe, because we’re always conscious that we may sell the flat one day… But eventually I realised I wanted this home to reflect the way I wanted to live now, not just what might appeal to a future buyer years later.”

Drawing inspiration from the pink spaces of the ‘80s and ‘90s, the homeowner knew that “a very saturated pink could easily overwhelm the space”. By pivoting to a softer and dustier shade, the kitchen turned out gentler and calmer, yet distinct enough to call it hers.

Find out how this dusty pink palette went with the rest of her home, all in our latest blog - link in bio.

Many thanks to the homeowner of Project 37P for sharing her thoughts and inspiration behind this cosy eclectic space in Woodlands - we enjoyed the peek behind the curtain!

“There’s something nice about being tucked away, but still being able to take in the different corners of the flat from where I am. That’s also why I wanted the wardrobe to have a see-through cutout looking into the cosy nook.”

Tucked away, yet connected - for the homeowner of Project 37P, this is a feeling that resonates both inside and outside her home. Situated in Woodlands, her 2-room flexi BTO enjoys a peaceful and quiet corner of Singapore, while being well-connected to the rest of the island (and JB).

Inside the apartment, we brought that same balance to life with thoughtful spatial planning. Having dedicated zones for different activities, the spaces are demarcated but not restrictive, allowing privacy and openness whenever needed.

It’s not often that we are tasked to design a pink kitchen, or a 2-room flexi project, so when both came together, it was an opportunity to think outside the box.

Having less room to work with made us realise, even for ourselves, that we don’t need more square footage to live better, just efficient planning.

A place to just be - swipe to turn on lights.

“By creating a backdrop for a slower pace of life, it gives permission to linger rather than rush. When the family comes together at the end of a day, they come home to a place that helps them connect, enjoy, and rest.”

Greeting you at the door, a soft wave-like gesture separates the entryway from the living room…

We removed a wall and relocated the common bathroom entrance to the back of the kitchen, and here’s the result.

Given the sufficient storage space in this large kitchen, we were able to do away with most top-hung cabinets, allowing natural light to accentuate the soft and unpretentious finishes that go so well together.

And of course, a customised coffee nook that makes your mornings right again.

“With a well-designed kitchen, the living room required minimal carpentry. A slim TV console built along the feature wall tucks away media devices and cables. The clients had wanted a concealed entrance into the bedrooms for a seamless appearance, but later decided on a double-leaf door with fluted glass for the simple elegance it brings.”

Think you can fit a walk-in wardrobe in your bedroom? Swipe to find out…

“An L shaped wardrobe offers more usable space in the bedroom compared to a long wardrobe positioned against the wall. While providing privacy by acting as a buffer between the bed and the bathroom, it also allows convenient access from the shower.”

Tip: Opt for a bi-fold door if your wardrobe is near the ceiling light.

Is a full reno always necessary? Swipe for before & after floor plan to find out more.

“While the original half-height cabinets were still in good condition, there was insufficient storage in the kitchen, and no countertop space for a dry pantry, which the clients desired. To cater for that, the dry pantry would have to be situated in the living room, resulting in extensive built-in carpentry along the TV feature wall.

Eventually, they decided to remodel the kitchen entirely so they could reconfigure the space for themselves.”
