Unwrapping Our Competition Proposal
We were honoured to be invited to a closed competition for the interior design of the Singapore Cancer Society’s new therapy centre at Bishan Junction 8.
While the project was unfortunately discontinued following URA’s recent announcement to redevelop the entire site, we’re now able to share our concept publicly.
Drawing from personal experience cultivating plants at home, I proposed the act of “Planting a Plant” as a therapeutic process—simple, mindful, and healing. Here’s an excerpt from our concept:
By blending nature with architectural order, the cancer rehabilitation centre offers a calm and stable therapeutic space for patients. Thoughtful plant selection and modern soil-free methods ensure that greenery enhances recovery without compromising hygiene or safety.
This design approach not only supports physical healing but also
nurtures a person’s mind and spirit. It provides a case study where
nature and architecture, when combined creatively, can foster
harmonious healthcare environments.
