It’s a busy time of year at our small workshop in the hills of Mbabane. This year we have continued to collaborate with our partners and the dream of becoming a small bespoke studio is coming true. Looking back on this beauty of a shoot as we look ahead and think of where to take our creative direction for next year. It’s always an exciting time 🌞

New lamps now available at poetry_of_living_store in South Africa. Some classics back in stock and some new designs, we would love to hear what you think. Partnering with a large brand when you are a small business is both exciting and nerve wracking! It can be a real recognition of our process, our design and our materials. And for larger brands to buy locally and support handmade means everything to small businesses like us. This is a real partnership and we are so grateful to poetry_of_living_store and their buyer who works closely with us to create a real collaboration. We hope they sell out fast!

Postcards from eSwatini ~ the majestic mountain aloe. They seem to come from the past, wise beings ageing slowly and growing tall, with a long beard. Beautiful in full bloom in the winter, glowing red and orange flowers, reminiscent of the sun. Spikey thick leaves protecting the plant. It sits proud and indigenous.

Our latest collection of waste paper lights and masks are now available to view at the mahatsara showroom in Paris. Curated together with a selection of beautiful handmade goods from Southern Africa. Always an honour to be part of this annual exhibition.

Currently on display in Venice as part of the HOMO FABER experience, we have 3 different pieces, designed and made specifically for this international exhibition of craftsmanship from around the world.
Thank you to the team for entrusting us and inviting us to come up with our own designs that take meaning from local culture. Scroll to read the inspiration behind our pieces. All handmade in our small studio in eSwatini from 100% waste newspaper and charcoal pigment.
What an incredible event they have organised! Such attention to detail and a real elevation of craft, blurring the lines between art and design. A space we always love to enter. If you are lucky enough to visit please let us know what you thought.

We were inspired by the red earth and the blue skies of eSwatini for our latest colour combination. Blue beads with clay pulp. All made from 100% waste paper. The clay colour comes from the earth itself, the red ochre dug locally.

Studio update ~ currently making some beautiful bespoke orders ~ from custom masks heading to Paris, hand painted vases for the USA, new lamps for Cape Town to original designs for a hotel. Each piece here has been a collaboration between us and our partners. They have taken what we make and added their own touch and it’s such a pleasure to bring these objects to life. Forever grateful to our customers who become friends 🌞
