The Choice Behind The Pleasing Shop 🌿

Creating our products is not just about shaping clay.
It is about making a choice.

At TPS, we do not choose the easiest path.
We choose the most honest one.

We choose simplicity over flashiness.
We choose longevity over quick sales.
We choose to create pieces we are proud to sign our name on.

Sometimes it takes longer.
Sometimes the cost is higher.

But what we receive in return
is The Pleasing Shop itself —
a brand built on intention.

TPS does not simply produce items.
We continue to exist quietly —
in someone’s home,
on a dining table,
in everyday life.

In the end, we may not be able to choose everything.
But we can choose our principles.

And TPS has chosen

It started when a customer accidentally broke something in my shop.
He looked very apologetic and kept trying to buy something to make up for it.
In the end, he chose a chili jar.
I told him gently,
“You don’t have to buy anything. It’s okay — accidents happen.”
He smiled and said,
“I’m buying this for my father. My father loves chili.”
And just like that…
it was no longer just a chili jar.
I asked him,
“Can you bring chili into Denmark?”
“Yes,” he replied.
Luckily, I had some excellent dried chili on hand.
So I filled the jar for him.
He didn’t just buy a product.
He carried home his intention — and his love — for his father.
🌶️ Sometimes, even a little heat
can travel home wrapped in a smile.

A young foreign customer walked into my shop one day, carrying a big plant in his arms.
He put it down, sighed, and smiled — like someone who had been searching for a while.

He was looking for a pot.

After choosing one he really liked, his eyes moved to a wooden chair we keep in the shop — the one we use for sitting or climbing to reach higher shelves.
He asked where he could buy one like it.

I told him I didn’t know exactly. But he said he didn’t have much time.

Then he asked, half shy, half hopeful,
“Can I buy this one? I really like it. It’s perfect for me. I want to use it for my plant.”

I asked if he lived in Bangkok.
He said yes — he was here for work on a 6-month contract. But he loved Bangkok so much that he might extend his stay.

So I gave him the chair.

He laughed and said,
“Let’s play rock–paper–scissors. Whoever loses receives 300 baht.”

He found a way to make sure I got the money.

I “lost.”
And he happily handed me 300 baht with the biggest smile.

Sometimes, kindness doesn’t go only one way.
Sometimes, people don’t just take things home —
they leave a little warmth behind too.
