The layout presents how we began shaping the building, inspired by the fluted surface of ancient wood.

The curvature of the design is a deliberate alignment with our intention to embrace and immerse the existing nature—integrating the pond and the rocks already present on the site.

We are thrilled to share our competition proposal for NOT A HOTEL Yakushima, an exploration rooted in deep respect for one of Japan’s most singular natural landscapes.

Yakushima, with its ancient cedars, moss-clad granite, and crystalline waters, calls for restraint rather than imposition.

Our approach allows the architecture to emerge from the site, guided by the rhythms of nature and inspired by the fluting patterns of the island’s endemic trees.

Instead of imposing a rigid footprint, the design responds intuitively to its environment:

- A curved primary wing that gently gestures around existing rock formations.
- An elevated pool that hovers above a natural pond, preserving and reflecting the delicate ecosystem.
- A spatial sequence sculpted by water, light, and topography.

This project represents a defining exploration of how architecture can belong to a place without dominating it. While unbuilt, it marks a significant step in our studio’s philosophy: listening to context and creating spaces that feel fundamentally grounded in the earth.

ผลงานประกวดแบบสถาปัตยกรรม กับ Café Amazon Competition !!

ในขั้นตอนการริเริ่มโครงการนี้ ทางเรานำแนวคิดของสถาปัตยกรรม ที่หยิบยก รูปลักษณ์ของป่าอเมซอน โดยการถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวของธรรมชาติผ่านสู่สถาปัตยกรรม

โครงการนี้ได้รับการรังสรรค์ขึ้นโดยอ้างอิงองค์ประกอบทางธรรมชาติของป่าอเมซอน ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วยลวดลายของใบไม้ รูปทรงอิสระทางธรรมชาติ และการดึงเอาโทนสีของผืนดินที่เป็นแหล่งกำเนิดและหล่อเลี้ยงผืนป่ามาแต่งแต้มบนหน้ากากอาคาร เพื่อสร้างบรรยากาศที่ดูอบอุ่น และเป็นกันเอง และดูกลมกลืนกับบริบทของธรรมชาติที่รอบล้อมตัวอาคาร

When brainstorming this project, we wanted to go beyond aesthetics and truly express the raw, natural beauty of the wild.

The concept expresses the vibrant elements of the Amazon forest, combining natural leaf patterns and organic shapes derived straight from the heart of the jungle.
