This project on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand, feels very close to my heart. It was a pair of twin villas that were originally meant to look exactly the same. But once I met the owners – a woman and a man – I immediately felt that this approach didn’t make sense. They’re different people, with different needs and completely different energy.
So I suggested giving each villa its own personality. One became more feminine – light and tropical, with soft fabrics, natural tones, and warm daylight. The other – more masculine – took on a modernist character, in a high-design, urban style. It’s simpler, more raw and architectural in form, yet still warm and refined in the details.
Even though both villas started from the same base, the final results turned out completely different. And although I could have expected that, the contrast still surprised me. It was a project where I could truly express myself – play with form, detail, and texture. The owners gave me their full trust and a lot of creative freedom, and I’m so grateful for that.
It’s one of those projects where I simply felt I was doing what I love – with heart, joy, and a sense that this is exactly where I’m meant to be.
